Sofia's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers


Sofia made her debut a few weeks ago and she Still so tiny when she came in for her session. We were shocked that she was three weeks old, she just has the tiniest little features and so much hair. She did such a wonderful job for her session, and we just loved having her older sister there to watch. You can tell that mom, dad and grandma are so proud of these girls!!  It was a really special session for their family, and we got some great family pictures towards the end. Sofia did a wonderful job staying asleep and posing for us. We love this session and we know you will too.

T.H. Peterson:   How did you find out you were pregnant? Was it a shock or expected?

Alejandra: I first found out I was pregnant in July of 2019. It was definitely a shock since we had just lost our first baby weeks prior to this. So Sofia was our rainbow baby. 
T.H. P.:   How did your other child react to seeing Sofia for the first time?
Alejandra: Elise had actually cried when we FaceTimed her because of the covid-19 no one else was allowed except my husband and myself. She was super excited to meet her baby sister

T.H. P.:   What was the first thing you thought when you saw Sofia?  What did your husband think?

Alejandra: The first thing I thought when I saw her was “ She’s perfect and everything I went through was well worth it.” My husband's first thought was “ I am a DAD!” 

T.H. P.:   What kind of food did you crave when you were pregnant?  What foods did you avoid?

Alejandra: The food I craved was sweets but unfortunately I couldn’t have any sweets.  I avoided red meat; it did not sit well with me. 

T.H. P.:   What was your favorite part about your newborn session with us?  

Alejandra:  My favorite part of the session was the outcome of it. Everyone is just so nice and welcoming. We enjoyed it very much.

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Tracer was such a sweet baby! I remember almost immediately when we started the session, he was comfortable and ready to be posed. Usually it takes a min to get them settled but he was a very good baby. I mean just look at that smile. He smiled almost right at the beginning and he was just a blast to photograph! Sawyer is a CUTE kid! He was so chill and photographing him was a blast. I love the portraits we got of him and the images with mom and dad are super special! Hanna, who is a long time client, has recently begun helping us with newborns and it's been a huge blessing not only to our business but to her as well as she has had an opportunity to grow as a photographer herself and practice on getting better at wrapping and posing babies. What a sweet baby! We had a wonderful time with Kayson and his mom and dad. They are so proud of him and you can tell they are going to raise him right and give him lots of love his whole life.
