Hudson's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

 We had the privilege of meeting Hudson and his mom and grandma for his newborn session at the studio. He was so easy-going and chill the entire time, and my goodness is that child cute. He has the cutest little cheeks and made the best expressions. He did such a wonderful job throughout his entire session, hardly even waking up until the very end. We got some really awesome pictures of him with our new props, like our sailboat. His little tiny feet were the cutest, and we couldn’t get enough of them toes!! We loved everything about his session!!!  Thanks for checking out this handsome little man’s session!  Enjoy!!
T.H. Peterson: How did you find out you were pregnant? Was it a surprise?
Emily: Finding out I was pregnant was a huge surprise. There were definitely a lot of mixed emotions and some tears, but he’s absolutely the best surprise I’ve ever gotten.
T.H. P.: How did you decide on the name Hudson?
Emily: Hudson didn’t have his name until after he was born. It was hard work picking out the name he would have forever. I stumbled upon Hudson while browsing for ideas and I loved how it flowed with his middle name, Porter, and that it related back to nature and the outdoors.
T.H. P.: What did you think when you saw him for the first time? 
Emily: I think my heart just exploded when I saw him for the first time. I couldn’t believe I made such a perfect little human from scratch! (Sometimes I still can’t!)
T.H. P.: How has becoming a mom changed your life and your perspective on day to day activities?
Emily: Becoming his mama has changed every single part of my life. It’s truly shown me just how great of a support system we have and how big our tribe is. He has more bonus grandparents, aunts, & uncles than I ever could’ve imagined. Somehow the days seem both shorter and longer at the same time and so much more precious than ever before.
T.H. P.: What was your favorite part of your newborn session with us?
Emily:  My favorite part of the newborn session was watching all of his different facial expressions!

Baby Oakley was an absolute dream to photograph! This precious little girl, who looks just like her mama, was so calm and posed perfectly for us. Because she was so cooperative, we got to try new poses, props, and backdrops, making the session extra special. I had so much fun photographing Brody and Kiera, a pair of high school siblings who came to the studio for a just-for-fun session! Their bond was easy to see, laughing and teasing. They brought such a natural vibe to every shot. I love sessions like this that capture the joy of family without needing a special occasion. Meet Knox – the sweetest little guy! During his newborn session, he was such a joy to photograph. We used several adorable props and backdrops, and Knox gave us a little smile... basically we gushed over him! His expressions were so precious, showing off his personality even at such a young age. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Our session with Lainey was perfect. She was such a beautiful little model. We took her session with her family and her big brothers were adorable and a lot of fun. Azaria’s senior session was one to remember! We braved the freezing cold, with snow covering the ground, to capture her love for softball. The golden hour sunset added a warm glow, making the field look magical. She brought along softball shirts from childhood and past teams, a special touch that told the story of her journey. Despite the cold, Azaria did amazing, smiling through every shot and showcasing her passion for the game. Her confidence and determination shone through, creating beautiful and meaningful photos. Erika and Brad are the sweetest family, and I loved photographing their newborn session. Their new baby, Luciana, has so much hair that I joked it looked like a wig! Her big sister, Addy, wasn’t too interested in the session, but we still managed to capture some really sweet moments of them together. Even though this was a quick session, we got some beautiful images of their little family.
