Delilah's Adorable Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Greatest Newborn Photographers

It was so amazing to meet Delilah, and to reunite with Chelsea, Tyler and Liberty.  We haven’t seen them since Liberty was born and we did her newborn session.  Delilah came in and we thought she looked so much like her dad!  Her expressions, and smiles!  This session is the first one Jesse and Amanda shot by themselves, and really showed what they are capable of!  Carefully watching the lighting and crops, these images are extraordinary and mom loved them all!  Delilah was a calm, easygoing newborn with the cutest smile and perfect features.  What an absolute delight!  Thank you for checking out this blog!

 T.H. Peterson:  What did you think when you learned you were having another girl?
Chelsea:  We were both excited for Liberty to have a sister. Either way, boy or girl, we felt beyond blessed for a healthy pregnancy.
 T.H. P.:   How did you announce it to your family?  Did you do a gender reveal?
Chelsea: We didn’t have a gender reveal; we just let Liberty break the news with a “Big Sis” shirt. Everyone was very excited.
 T.H. P.:   What is one food you craved during pregnancy?
Chelsea: The sonic ice cravings struck again! At least it wasn’t an expensive craving.

T.H. P.:    How was your first night home as a family?
Chelsea: Coming home this time was so much different. We juggled Delilah’s needs, not being able to see anyone with the Covid-19 restrictions at the hospital (especially Liberty), and recouping from a C-section the best we could. The night we all were home and sleeping under one roof was definitely emotional for this mama. I was just very thankful for time with both the girls and Tyler. I don’t know how people juggle that first week without an awesome family like ours that helped out  in sooo many ways.
 T.H. P.:    What was your favorite part about your newborn session with us? 
Chelsea: It’s always great working with your photographers. They create a positive, happy, safe atmosphere. Our favorite part was just getting to see a few snapshots of the start of our daughters life. They grow and change so fast. We love looking back at Liberty’s newborn photos and can’t wait to see Delilah’s.

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Tracer was such a sweet baby! I remember almost immediately when we started the session, he was comfortable and ready to be posed. Usually it takes a min to get them settled but he was a very good baby. I mean just look at that smile. He smiled almost right at the beginning and he was just a blast to photograph! Sawyer is a CUTE kid! He was so chill and photographing him was a blast. I love the portraits we got of him and the images with mom and dad are super special! Hanna, who is a long time client, has recently begun helping us with newborns and it's been a huge blessing not only to our business but to her as well as she has had an opportunity to grow as a photographer herself and practice on getting better at wrapping and posing babies. What a sweet baby! We had a wonderful time with Kayson and his mom and dad. They are so proud of him and you can tell they are going to raise him right and give him lots of love his whole life.
