Interview with Alyssa Jaramillo - Class of 2021 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Look at that smile! Alyssa was absolutely gorgeous! She was a great subject and photographing her was so much fun! I was super happy because both her and her mom were super excited and into the shoot! That always makes for the best sessions! One thing that really stands out for me is how colorful the session was! Shooting this in fall, with all the rich colors was amazing and even though we did most of these in locations we shoot often, I feel that her session really got a beautiful unique look! Super thrilled with the results and am so happy to share her session with you! Thanks for checking it out!

T.H. Peterson: What is your secret power?
Alyssa: I think my super power is somehow talking my parents into getting what I want.


T.H. P.: Three things people would be surprised to learn about you...

Alyssa: I am the worst when it comes to procrastination.

I like to bake but I’m horrible at it.

I love criminal justice shows or watching unsolved cases.

T.H. P.: What are your plans after high school?           
Alyssa: I plan to attend Ku and major in Chemical Engineering and hopefully go into Pharmacy.
T.H. P.: What is your biggest pet peeve?
Alyssa: My biggest pet peeve would probably be people who are hypocrites.
T.H. P.: What is your best memory from high school?
Alyssa: My best memory is going out with gia every single weekend whether we went to a football game or just stayed at each others house.
T.H. P.: What would be a dream job?
Alyssa: My dream job is to be a pediatric pharmacist.
T.H. P.: What was your favorite part of the session with us?
Alyssa: My favorite part of the session was watching my mom make different facial expressions everytime I took a photo.
T.H. P.: What is one thing you want the older generation to understand about your generation?
Alyssa: That we are aware of what is happening in today’s society and we will be the generation to create a better plan for a “better tomorrow”
T.H. P.: If you could trade places with one celebrity for a week, who would it be and what would you do?      
Alyssa: I would want to trade places with Kevin Hart lol and I’d want to see how many people I could make laugh, I might even ride a rollercoaster just because I know he doesn’t like them. 
T.H. P.: What is your favorite song right now?
Alyssa: At the moment I don’t have a favorite song but I love anything by Frank Ocean or the Weeknd.

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! Recently, we photographed Sarah, my assistant (of many years) she’s incredible! Always professional, friendly and fun to be around. I asked her to do a write up for her blog post. Here’s what she wrote: My first experience with T.H. Peterson Photography was 8 years ago. I saw an add for his spring mini sessions and thought it would be a perfect fit for my husband (who hates photos) and my four small kids. That photo shoot resulted in amazing pictures and also a job for me! I’m Sarah, one of Tommy’s photo assistants and this spring my extended family met Tommy at Osage lake for our family photo shoot. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Tracer was such a sweet baby! I remember almost immediately when we started the session, he was comfortable and ready to be posed. Usually it takes a min to get them settled but he was a very good baby. I mean just look at that smile. He smiled almost right at the beginning and he was just a blast to photograph! Sawyer is a CUTE kid! He was so chill and photographing him was a blast. I love the portraits we got of him and the images with mom and dad are super special! Hanna, who is a long time client, has recently begun helping us with newborns and it's been a huge blessing not only to our business but to her as well as she has had an opportunity to grow as a photographer herself and practice on getting better at wrapping and posing babies.
