Get to know Amanda and Nick! Relationship spotlight!!

We are a photography blog HOWEVER I recently started interviewing couples about their relationship. This has been a fun and educational and heartwarming experience. Getting a small insight into other couples has been fun to see and I hope of some value to you, the reader. Today’s spotlight is Amanda and Nick. Enjoy!

T.H. Peterson: What are your ages? Amanda: 35 and Nick 26

T.H. Peterson: How long have you been married or been together Amanda: Married 3 years Together 7.5 years

T.H. Peterson: How did you meet?
Amanda: My grandma was losing her battle to cancer and his mom was close to her, we crossed paths during her passing.

T.H. Peterson: What were your first impressions of each other?
Amanda: We found each other attractive but never expected anything of it.

T.H. Peterson: Describe your relationship in one word.
Amanda: Ambitious

T.H. Peterson: What have been some of the best moments of your marriage?
Amanda: Some of the best moments in our marriage have been the memories we have made with our children. Outdoor adventures take the top of the list!

T.H. Peterson: How have you learned to effectively resolve conflict?
Amanda: Like many married couple, conflict arises without warning! We have recently learned to step back, allow ourselves to cool down, and then express our feelings from our own point of view rather than placing intent blame.

T.H. Peterson: What are some things that have helped keep your relationship strong?
Amanda: Understanding. Allowing each of us to feel a certain way we feel about a situation without prejudice. Letting the other person explain why they feel the way they do and then working as a unit to move forward.

T.H. Peterson: What are some ways you are alike and different?
Amanda: We are both adventure seekers! Always looking for what to do next! But I am more cautious than he is.  I am a hoarder of money while he will spend freely if that’s what he wants to do. I’m content with lounging in my pj’s all day, but he has to be constantly busy! Family is ALWAYS first, especially when it involves our kids!

T.H. Peterson: Advice you'd give to yourself when you were first dating your significant other?
Amanda: He isn’t your past! Do not punish him for the pain others have caused you!

T.H. Peterson: Tell us something funny or inspiring that happened in your relationship.
Amanda: Our home caught fire shortly before our first wedding anniversary. We lost a lot and had to adapt to so much change, through all of it he was super positive.

T.H. Peterson: Give one single piece of advice that others might benefit from.
Amanda: Be still. Stop letting everything wrong in your life, control your life. Take charge, move forward, accept love, no most of all allow forgiveness.
