Taryn Burkhardt - Silver Lake Class of 2021 - Willow's Bend Senior Session - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

We have been photographing the Burkhardt family for a very long time so when it came time to photograph their last daughter, Taryn, it’s a bittersweet event for us. Nancy, Taryn’s mom, wanted the session to be in a different location than the other girls, so we went out to Willow Bend. What a beautiful venue and it made for such an amazing session. Taryn is such a beautiful senior she has such a wonderful natural smile and sparkling eyes and beautiful hair. She was so comfortable during her session and you could tell she really had a good time with us. She was so brave that she even went down into the water and we had the funniest picture of her when something touched her foot under the water. We really laughed so hard during the entire session it was such a great time and we are so excited to share these with you. Enjoy!

T.H. Peterson: So, after high school, what are your plans?

Taryn:  After high school I plan on going to either K-State, or somewhere for

softball. I am planning on majoring in Psychology.

 

T.H. P.: What would be a dream job?

Taryn:   My dream job would definitely be a Wedding Videographer because I love making and editing videos. I want to make something that people will cherish and watch later on in life.

T.H. P.: What do you like to do for fun?

Taryn:  For fun, I love to hang out with my friends and drive around listening to music. I also really enjoy going to the lake.

T.H. P.: What's your favorite TV show?

Taryn:   Outer Banks.

T.H. P.: If your friends had to describe you in one single word, what would they say?

Taryn:  If my friends had to describe me in one word I feel like they would say "carefree".

T.H. P.: What song on the radio right now are you obsessed with? And which one annoys you to no end?

Taryn:  My favorite song on the radio right now is "Til You Can't". A song that is on the radio right now that I can not stand would be anything by BTS.

T.H. P.: What is your secret power?

Taryn:  I think my secret power is having the ability of knowing when things exactly happened. For example, if you were to show me a picture of me and my friends from 3 years ago, I could probably tell you what day it was.

T.H. P.: Where is your favorite place to eat in Topeka?

Taryn:  My favorite place to eat in Topeka is definitely Chipotle.

T.H. P.: What was your favorite part of your session with us?

Taryn:   My favorite part of the session was when I was in the water and almost fell all the way in because something touched my leg.

T.H. P.: What would people be surprised to learn about you? Taryn:  Something that people would find surprising to learn about me is that I failed my first drivers test.

How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Tracer was such a sweet baby! I remember almost immediately when we started the session, he was comfortable and ready to be posed. Usually it takes a min to get them settled but he was a very good baby. I mean just look at that smile. He smiled almost right at the beginning and he was just a blast to photograph! Sawyer is a CUTE kid! He was so chill and photographing him was a blast. I love the portraits we got of him and the images with mom and dad are super special! Hanna, who is a long time client, has recently begun helping us with newborns and it's been a huge blessing not only to our business but to her as well as she has had an opportunity to grow as a photographer herself and practice on getting better at wrapping and posing babies. What a sweet baby! We had a wonderful time with Kayson and his mom and dad. They are so proud of him and you can tell they are going to raise him right and give him lots of love his whole life.
