Interview with Cole - Marais Des Cygnes Valley High Class of 2022 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Cole's session was legit. We kept it simple, shot at his high school and then ended the session at Melvern Lake but I absolutely love every part of the session. His sports photos, which were about half the session were amazing and going to the lake, we got some great images out there as well. I'm super happy with how the whole thing turned out. Cole is such a great guy and was a lot of fun to hang out with and photograph. Here are some highlights from his session. Definitely worth checking out. Cole is going to do well in life, he's got a great attitude and a grounded perspective. Honored to know him.

T.H. Peterson: What was your favorite part of the session with us? Cole: I liked how friendly and laid back the session was.

T.H. P.: What is one thing you want the older generation to understand about your generation? Cole: I want them to know that our generation is hard working and that we want to change the world.
T.H. P.: What sets you apart from the other students in your grade? Cole: How close I am to my family.

T.H. P.: What are some positive habits that you have picked up in high school that will help you in college?

Cole: I have learned how to be responsible and mature.

T.H. P.: What is the last movie you saw and what did you think about it?

Cole: I watched Fury and I thought it was a really well made movie.

T.H. P.: What song comes to mind when you think about your high school?

Cole: “God, girls and football.”

T.H. P.: How do you feel about being a senior?  

Cole: I am excited about the future.

T.H. P.: What was the dumbest saying of the year?

Cole: It’ll buff.

T.H. P.: What was the most meaningful assignment a teacher ever had you do?

Cole: A research project over future careers.
T.H. P.: What is your greatest fear and have you ever tried to face it?
Cole: Height and I have faced it.

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Destrie: I have always loved the name Diego, and so I knew when I had a second boy he would have that name. T.H. P.: What does big bro think? Destrie: His brother is in total awe of him. Hanna, who is a long time client, has recently begun helping us with newborns and it's been a huge blessing not only to our business but to her as well as she has had an opportunity to grow as a photographer herself and practice on getting better at wrapping and posing babies. What a sweet baby! We had a wonderful time with Kayson and his mom and dad. They are so proud of him and you can tell they are going to raise him right and give him lots of love his whole life. Cove was the sweetest little girl. She was so mellow and easy to photograph. She was just the cutest baby.
