Interview with Aulysha Lester - SFT Class of 2023 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Aulysha’s session was nothing short of phenomenal. She was such a great model and photographing here was a real treat. We started in front of the studio and went over to SFT to do some on the field to show off her cheer and ended at Osage County Fishing Lake for sunset portraits. The colors were incredible. She has a great smile and an awesome personality. I feel honored to have photographed her and am so excited with the results! Here are some of our favorites! Enjoy!

T.H. Peterson: Favorite place to eat in Topeka?

Aulysha: Taco Bell, I don’t really dig fancy restaurants! 

T.H. P.: Favorite subject in school:

Aulysha: Psychology, learning how everything in the brain is connected and what triggers benefits and which don’t interest me!

T.H. P.: What do you do for fun?

Aulysha: I really like to just cruise around dirt roads blaring some 90’s country.

T.H. P.: What do you love most about yourself?

Aulysha: My determination, if I want something I’m going to continuously fight until I reach it.

T.H. P.: If you could spend the summer doing anything you wanted, what would you do?

Aulysha: I would spend my whole summer traveling down south, I love the cultural down there and how everything looks so different. 

T.H. P.: All-time favorite movie:

Aulysha: Honestly probably sky high, I could watch that movie everytime I turn on the TV and it would ever get old.

T.H. P.: Favorite part of your session with us?

Aulysha:  All the jokes that were mentioned, and how Tommy thought I was joking about getting a huge portrait banner of me for the studio! 

T.H. P.: What is your dream job when you grow up?

Aulysha: I really want to go into psychology nursing I want to be able to watch someone’s personality and triggers and be able to help them figure out what to do to calm the triggering aspects of life.

T.H. P.: Best memory from school so far:

Aulysha: I can’t pinpoint a single memory so probably all the times we have put people in trash cans than ran the down the hallways to then let go and have them crash into the lockers.

T.H. P.: How would your friends describe you?

Aulysha: My friends would describe me as being the mom of the group, I am always making sure that everyone else is good and has everything before I think about myself. They would also say that I bring a lot of laughter, I am always doing dumb things to make everyone laugh!

Interview with Ellie Sowers - Santa Fe Trail Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I was really excited to photograph Ellie for her senior photos because I’ve had the chance to work with her many times over the years. She’s always been so natural in front of the camera, and this session was no different. We shot at a beautiful location that had a little bit of everything—pond, tall grass, wooded areas, a basketball court, and even an awesome swing with a view. Every outfit she wore fit her perfectly and photographed so well. She made the whole session easy and fun, and before we knew it, the time had flown by. It was also really great having her family there with us. You can tell they’re a close, supportive group, and that energy always shows through in photos. Banks's newborn session - Interview with mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Banks was seriously such a cute little guy to photograph. I was honestly shocked at how much hair he had. His blonde hair almost looked like a tiny little wig, and it made him even more adorable. He gave me a couple little smiles during the session, but honestly, what stood out most were all the expressions he made. He was so animated the whole time, and every once in a while he would let out this loud cry that was actually kind of hilarious and adorable at the same time. Normally I’m not trying to photograph babies crying, but he was so expressive that it made for some really fun photos. We also got some really beautiful images of Banks with his mom, and those are some of my favorites from the session. You could just feel how much love was there. Interview with Brynna Perry - Santa Fe Trail Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

From the very beginning of Brynna’s senior session, I knew it was going to be a good one. She has the kind of personality that just makes people smile. Brynna is funny, confident, smart, and completely herself, and once she started relaxing in front of the camera, her hilarious side really came out. She was making the funniest faces and keeping us laughing the entire session. She also has one of the best smiles, and the moment I got that first real laugh out of her, I knew we were going to create some amazing photos together. Spending the afternoon with Brynna and her mom was such a fun way to kick off our Class of 2027 senior season. Kaitlyn’s senior session was such a fun one to photograph from start to finish. We shot her session at Ted Ensley Gardens, and it was the perfect backdrop for her personality. She has a really great smile and such a fun, easygoing energy that made the whole shoot feel relaxed and natural. Her family came along too, and they added to the experience in the best way — lots of laughs, encouragement, and good moments in between shots. We also spent time at Shawnee Lake, and it couldn’t have looked better. Everything was vibrant and green, and the skies were really colorful and full of life that day. Tobias's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Tobias was seriously one of the sweetest little babies we’ve ever photographed. He had the cutest little face and the calmest personality, which made the whole session feel really special. Mom and dad were there soaking in every moment, and Grandma came along too—completely in love with her new grandson. You could just feel how much this little guy is already adored. Tobias was a perfect little model the entire time, giving us the sweetest smirks and tiny expressions that made it hard to put the camera down. They also brought along his older cousin, who’s still just a toddler, and getting photos of the two of them together was such a fun part of the session. Those moments were full of personality and so much cuteness. One of the highlights was incorporating a saddle that dad brought—it added such a unique and personal touch, and those images turned out to be some of our favorites. Bre and Trent Engagement Session - Osage Osage County Fishing Lake - Topeka's Best Engagement and Wedding Photographers

Bree and Trent’s engagement session was just one of those shoots that reminds me why I love what I do. We started things off in the studio, keeping it clean and simple with a seamless backdrop so all the focus stayed right on them. Right away, you could see how natural they are together—lots of laughs, easy smiles, and just that genuine connection you can’t fake. After that, we headed out to Osage Lake near the studio, and man… we could not have asked for a better day. The skies were that perfect deep blue, the light was beautiful, and everything just came together. Brynn and Justin's Engagement Session - Gridley, KS - Kansas Top Wedding Photographers

We started out on their property, and it was just incredible. Rolling fields, a classic Kansas sunset, and the kind of light you hope for every time. One of my favorite spots was this old wooden cross they had out in the field—it added such a meaningful, rustic touch. After that, we explored some abandoned buildings and then made our way to a farm nearby, which gave us even more variety. Everywhere we went just fit their vibe perfectly. We also got to include their little daughter, and she completely stole the show. So smiley, so expressive—just the cutest. The whole session felt easy and fun. Lots of laughs, some goofy moments, and just really good connection between them. You can tell how much they enjoy being together, and that always makes for the best photos. Interview with Carson Horne - Lyndon High School Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Carson is a senior at Lynden High School, and we had a great time photographing him for his senior portraits. We started out on the football field at his school, where we took advantage of the familiar setting and got some strong, classic football portraits. Carson was easy to work with right from the start—relaxed, natural, and very photogenic. He made my job simple because he could just step in front of the camera and be himself. After that, we headed down the street to an old gas station area with classic cars and an old scoreboard that gave the session a really unique feel. It was the perfect backdrop for something a little different and added a lot of character to his gallery and took some really meaningful photos with his little brother, which turned out great. Interview with Autumn Artzer - Seaman High Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I had such a great time photographing Autumn’s senior session. She is a super photogenic girl with an awesome smile and a really fun personality. We started the session in NOTO, and the colorful backgrounds were perfect for her style and energy. She was so easy to photograph because she was willing to jump right into the session and have fun with it. After that, we headed to the Capitol for some classic senior photos before finishing out in the country during golden hour. Every location fit her perfectly, and the whole session just flowed so naturally. We ended the night on top of the hill overlooking the Wanamaker lights, and it made for such a cool ending to the session. We even captured some cheer photos there, which turned out amazing with the city lights glowing behind her. Autumn brought such a great vibe and energy all evening, and it honestly made the session a blast from start to finish.
