Preston Lee's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka Newborn Photographer

Preston Lee, what a cutie! Mom was so proud of him and little sister just so enamoured with him. He is well loved. We had a great time with them and photographing Mr. Preston was just such a joy. He was a chill, content baby. So cooperative. These are some of our favorites along with an interview with mom. Enjoy!

T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you found out you were pregnant?

Kaitlynn: We were beyond excited to add to our family, came at a really exciting time in our lives, and actually found out on my daughter’s birthday!


T.H. P.: How did you come up with the name Preston?

Kaitlynn: The name Preston was an easy choice for us once we found out we were having a baby boy. His fathers middle name is “Preston Lee” from his grandfather & uncle. So we knew we wanted to pass the name along to our baby boy. 

T.H. P.: What is something you enjoyed about your session with us?

Kaitlynn:  I loved how patient both of you were with him, newborns have their own ways & you have to go on their time. Both of you took your time and didn’t rush the photo shoot, made me feel good & in great hands. 

T.H. P.: Did you have any aversions to certain foods during pregnancy or did you have any specific cravings?

Kaitlynn: I didn’t really have any aversions, but I did have a few cravings! I craved chips & queso, and street tacos! I also ate a lot of Snickers ice cream bars & sonic slushies! 

T.H. P.: How has life been adjusting to a new baby?

Kaitlynn: We are adjusting very well to a family of 4! Big sister is a HUGE help. Preston is such an easy baby. Knock on wood! We are all just in love with him & happy to complete our family with such a precious little boy!

How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Destrie: I have always loved the name Diego, and so I knew when I had a second boy he would have that name. T.H. P.: What does big bro think? Destrie: His brother is in total awe of him. What a handsome little guy! I loved photographing Declan and his session was just perfect! I especially loved capturing the details like his spikey hair. Totally adorable! Hanna, who is a long time client, has recently begun helping us with newborns and it's been a huge blessing not only to our business but to her as well as she has had an opportunity to grow as a photographer herself and practice on getting better at wrapping and posing babies. What a sweet baby! We had a wonderful time with Kayson and his mom and dad. They are so proud of him and you can tell they are going to raise him right and give him lots of love his whole life. Cove was the sweetest little girl. She was so mellow and easy to photograph. She was just the cutest baby. During our first moments together, she just stared at me and was so calm, I couldn’t have fallen more in love.  T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Sierra: Her big brothers name is Cash, so I knew I wanted another one syllable name. When I stumbled upon Cove and said the names together, it was an instant yes.
