Interview with Daniela Romero - Shawnee Heights Class of 2024 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

 

Daniela was awesome to photograph! She's so photogenic, clearly. But she was also a lot of fun to hang out with. Laid back personality and yet still confident and you can see that in her smile. She looked great with any expression and pose. This was an early morning shoot at Gage Park and I told them, they could not have picked a better location for her session. She looks perfect in the garden. Every angle made the perfect backdrop! Thanks for checking out Dani's session! Tell us which is your favorite!


T.H. Peterson: What are your plans after high school?

Daniela: I plan to go to college and work in the medical field. 


T.H. P.: What classes are you glad to be done with?

Daniela: English and physics. 

T.H. P.: What is your dream job?

Daniela: Dermatologist.

T.H. P.: What is your favorite outdoor activity?

Daniela: Shopping outdoors.

T.H. P.: Something you enjoyed about your session w us?

Daniela: You were funny and gave me good feedback. 

T.H. P.: Last movie you saw and what did you think?

Daniela: The Sound of Freedom. It was a very touching movie...so sad though.

T.H. P.: What motivates you?

Daniela: Money and (sometimes) competition.

T.H. P.: What is your favorite place to eat in Topeka?

Daniela: Chick-fil-A.

T.H. P.: What would people be surprised to learn about you?

Daniela: How funny I am.

T.H. P.: Describe your relationship with mom.  You guys seemed to get along great.

Daniela: She's my bestie and I'm her biggest headache.

I knew pretty quickly that Parker’s senior session was going to be a good one. We started at Washburn Rural High School in the room where he trains for wrestling, so we had some fun working the wrestling theme into his photos with some different poses and shots. Parker has a lot of confidence, and it was great seeing that personality come out in front of the camera. From there, we headed downtown and made stops at the Capitol and one of my favorite graffiti spots, where we got some really killer shots. We finished up at a parking garage just in time for an amazing sunset. The light was incredible, but honestly, Parker made my job pretty easy because he was so comfortable in front of the camera. Interview with Caleb Menke - Hayden High Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Caleb is a senior at Hayden High School, and baseball was a big part of his senior session. He also  wrestles and plays football, but for his session we decided to focus on baseball. We started out with some baseball photos, then headed over to Gage Park before finishing up at the Governor’s Mansion. Caleb was just a really great guy to photograph. He’s down to earth, funny, has a great personality, and was very natural in front of the camera. His family was with him for the session, and it was pretty obvious how close they are, which was really cool to see. The evening itself couldn’t have been much better. We had some really beautiful skies, and one of my favorite parts of the session was when we put Caleb in his letterman jacket and the clouds started getting really dramatic. Interview with Julian Ferrer - Osage City Class of 2027 - Osage County's Best Senior Portraits

Julian was an awesome senior to photograph! We started out at Four Corners near Scranton, then headed to Osage County Fishing Lake before finishing up in downtown Osage City. He was super photogenic, had a great smile and expressions, and was just really easy to photograph. He was personable, relaxed, and made the whole session a lot of fun. I loved how naturally everything came together. By the time we got to Osage City, the sun was sitting right on the horizon and the golden hour light was absolutely amazing. The colors were so rich, the weather was beautiful, and we had a great time walking around downtown and creating some really great images. I feel like we were able to capture Julian's personality while also creating images that really flattered him. Interview with Maddy Hladky - Washburn Rural High Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

We had a great time photographing Maddy for her senior session at Gage Park and the Rose Garden. It was interesting because I don't normally get a request to do an entire senior session in one location, but Gage Park has so much to offer that it was a nice challenge to get creative and capture an entire session within the confines of one location that we use quite often. We really got to explore the park, and before we knew it, the session was over. Maddy is a beautiful young lady; great smile. She's friendly, smart, and just a lot of fun to photograph. I really loved the photos we got in the Rose Garden itself. Maddy was wearing a pink top, and some of my favorite images were with the sunset hitting her hair and the pink roses in the background. It just made for some beautiful images. We had a great time, and Mom was there with us, so we enjoyed hanging out with her as well. It was just a really fun session from start to finish. T.H. Cassie and Brandon's amazing day! The Beacon Wedding Venue - Topeka Wedding Photography

Brandon and Cassie were married last Saturday at The Beacon in Topeka, and what a beautiful day it was! The Beacon is such a classic, historic venue, and it made the perfect backdrop for their wedding. It was the last really hot day of summer before all the cool weather moved in, so we stayed inside the entire time. Honestly, though, with a building this beautiful, we never once wished we were outside. The lighting was amazing, there were so many different rooms and looks to work with, and the architecture was just gorgeous. One of my favorite moments was photographing Cassie on the huge grand staircase on the lower level, showing off her long train. It was absolutely stunning. And then there were the tears! I joked with Brandon and Cassie about how many happy emotions were bubbling over throughout the day. From a photography standpoint, it made for such an amazing experience because there were so many tender moments, happy tears, hugs, and genuine connections happening all around them...

Interview with Riley Mohler - Silver Lake High Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I’ve been photographing Riley and her family since she was little, so getting to photograph her senior pictures was pretty special. We had an amazing session at Gage Park, and Riley was absolutely fantastic in front of the camera. She is super photogenic, has tons of confidence, and has a great smile and expression. She’s also just one of those people who is really easy to photograph because she’s so personable and completely natural in front of the camera. And I have to say, I loved her hairstyle for the session! Riley is a softball player and will be continuing to play in college, so of course we had to work some of that into her senior session. We had a lot of fun moving around H. Park and getting a great mix of softball photos, natural smiles, and some more dramatic looks. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Interview with Brek Wahlmeier - Hayden High Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

We had a great time photographing Brek for his senior pictures! We started off at the natatorium, where we got some really awesome and dramatic swimming photos. From there, we headed to the tennis courts at Hayden High School, where Brek goes to school. We were able to get some really cool shots there, both dramatic and fun. Brek was a cool guy, had a great smile, and was willing to try anything we wanted to do. After the tennis courts, we headed downtown and got some photos on top of a parking garage, along with a spot that gave us lots of variety. One of his outfits was a suit, and I thought that was a really great look for him. He looked sharp! All in all, it was a very fun session, and I really enjoyed working with Brek. Interview with Talan Robertson - Washburn Rural Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Talan is one of those seniors who clearly loves baseball. A lot of athletes who are naturally gifted end up playing several sports, but Talan has really put his focus into baseball. You can tell how much he loves the game when you talk to him. We started his session at Washburn Rural, then headed to the Governor’s Mansion and finished up down along the Kansas River. He brought great energy to the whole session. He was excited about everything we were doing, easy to talk to, and just a really fun guy to photograph. He is also very photogenic and has one of those smiles that makes my job pretty easy. One of the things I really enjoyed was getting his guitar into the session. The photos we were able to create with him playing guitar had a totally different feel to them. They were artistic and dramatic, and I really liked how they turned out. Maddie was such a sweet girl and just an absolute pleasure to photograph. Basketball is a huge part of her life, and she has committed to play basketball at K-State after she graduates, which is pretty awesome. We had a lot of fun with her senior session because she brought a really cool variety of outfits. Every outfit gave us a completely different look, and we were able to get some really great images downtown before heading out to a more country setting. Maddie was just really easy to photograph. She had a great smile, great expressions, and honestly, I don't think she has a bad angle. By the time we got out to the country, the skies were just incredible.
