Clayton's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

This handsome guy! I am so happy with how his photos turned out! He did great! He had his fussy moments but what newborn doesn't?? He looked so peaceful, especially at the end of his session. His mom and dad are so in love, they were a lot of fun to hang out with! Here's highlights from our session with Clayton. Enjoy!

T.H. Peterson: How was your pregnancy? 

Abbey: Rough, but worth every bit. 

T.H. P.: Did you have any food aversions or cravings?

Abbey: Frozen cokes. 

T.H. P.: How did you come up with the name Clayton?

Abbey: Alex just liked it. We knew his initials would be CL, as that’s a family pattern. 

T.H. P.: What did you think when you first saw him?

Abbey: I wanted to be able to hold him immediately. 

T.H. P.: What is something you liked about your session with us?

Abbey: The laughter at his little concerned faces. 

T.H. P.: Who does he look like? Abbey: Dad, 100%. He is his father’s clone.

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! Jacob and Emily’s wedding was like something out of a fairytale. Held at the charming Stony Point Hall, just a short drive from Baldwin and Lawrence, it was a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. I was so excited to photograph Larae as she is the beautiful baby of a very long time client, like probably 15-20 years. So this was a very special occasion that I wanted to make sure was absolutely perfect and it was! Larae is just precious and such a chill baby! Oh Skylar! A beautiful baby with thick black hair and an adorable presence, stole our hearts with her funny expressions and cooperative demeanor during our photography session with her. Madi: When I first saw Skylar I couldn’t believe how big she was and how much hair she had. T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Madi: It took us a long time to find a name we both liked. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th
