Zaylon's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

What a beautiful baby! So precious! This session was so special. The love mom and dad have for their little one is so apparent and strong, it's just wonderful and being able to capture that made this session perfect. Zaylon was a very chill baby and photographing him was fun and easy! Even while he slept you could see lots of personality in his face. So handsome! Thank you for checking out his session. Enjoy!

T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Zaylon?

Emily: I thought how was this boy just inside of me?!

T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name?

Emily: We wanted a unique name that not a lot of other people have. I really just started thinking of random letters and came up with Zaylon. 

T.H. P.: What is something you liked about your session with us? 

Emily: I liked how comfortable the session was. You guys were able to swaddle him so well and keep him calm!

T.H. P.: Did you have any special food aversions or cravings?

Emily: I craved anything and everything. S’more cookies! 

T.H. P.: What is life like with a new baby in the house? Emily: Having a newborn in the house is pure bliss! Bittersweet to say the least.

Interview with Laci Cole - Seaman High Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Laci was such a joy to photograph. From the moment she walked into the studio, she was friendly, relaxed, and incredibly easy to work with. She has a great smile and is very photogenic, which always makes a session flow effortlessly. Nothing ever felt awkward, even in between shots, and that made the whole experience feel natural and fun. Her outfits were perfect too—they fit the mood of the photos so well and really pulled everything together. It was also one of those cold, snowy days, so we started inside the studio where it was warm, but we couldn’t resist stepping outside for a few shots. Even with the freezing temps, we were able to capture some really cool images with the snow, and they turned out amazing. It was so nice meeting Laci and her mom—they were both wonderful. We had so much fun taking pictures of baby Sienna recently! Her mom and dad are so in love with her, and you can really feel it when you’re around them.  Sienna was a little fussy at first, and it took a few minutes to get her settled—but once she was, she showed us all kinds of cute expressions. She has so much personality in her little face, and it was so fun to capture that. We got some really beautiful shots with different poses, props, and backdrops. I’m so happy with how the photos turned out—they really show the love this family has for each other. Sienna is such a sweet baby, and I know her family will treasure these pictures forever. T.H. Baby Benjamin’s newborn session was such a sweet and special experience. He is a tiny, beautiful little guy, and from the moment we started, you could feel how excited Mom and Dad were to be there. We took our time and worked carefully to create soft, beautiful images of him, and he gave us the most adorable little expressions. Every photo felt gentle, calm, and full of love, making the entire session a joy to photograph. Some of my favorite images from Benjamin’s session are the family portraits. There is something so special about seeing him in his parents’ arms, looking so safe and precious. The connection between them is so natural and strong, and it shows in every image. Interview with Adrian Romero - Topeka West Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Adrian is a senior at Topeka West, graduating with the Class of 2026. She’s been playing soccer since 3rd grade, and her love for the game really showed during her session. She’s confident, driven, and full of energy—and on top of that, incredibly photogenic with a beautiful, bright smile. We spent a lot of time focusing on her passion for soccer, and it was clear how much it means to her. At the end of the session, we headed out to the water at Shawnee Lake, just in time for the most incredible sunset. The sky lit up in a rich orange glow, giving us the perfect backdrop. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

This session was straight up awesome! A little different than our typical session where we go all over town. Nathan was into his guitars and playing so with that being the theme I thought right around our studio space in Topeka was perfect and we didn't need to go far. We got some with his girlfriend and his sister. I absolutely loved his session. The light was really working with us that day too. Kuno - Krogman Wedding - Todd and Megan say their I Do's! Governor's Row House - Topeka, KS

This summer has been incredibly mild and it went out with a bang for Todd and Megan's big day! It was absolutely beautiful! We couldn't have asked for better. Megan is such a sweetheart. So nice and laid back, the perfect bride! She looked so pretty coming down the aisle and smiled so beautifully that it was truly exciting to be a part of their special day! The Governor's Row House, as usual was cute and decorated stylishly. I love their details and furniture. Makes for a great backdrop for weddings! As Megan and Todd exited the ceremony they were bombarded with candy sprinkles! How fun! The funny thing was the kids were trying to eat them all. I don't know if more were thrown or gobbled up by the kids lol. We wish this very special couple the very best! Jessica and Kyle at the Governor's Mansion - Topeka, KS Professional Family and Pet Photographers

 We had lots of fun with Jessica and Kyle out at the Governor's Mansion. It's funny because Jessica was laughing about how "bad" her dogs were being but I thought they did great! They are so cute. I love the way they were twisting their heads and smiling at the camera. Super friendly pooches. We really love Jessica and Kyle. They feel like family. We were so fortunate to meet them a few years ago and shoot their wedding and they've been kind enough to come back every year. It's always a lot of fun!
