Colt's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Colt is such a sweet baby! Photographing his session was great. He was a perfect little model and we got not only beautiful images of him but beautiful images of him with his family! One of my favorite images was a photograph of him with his big sis, who seems to be a big fan! Such a sweet moment as she kissed his face. I know she will be a great, protective big sister! Here are some of our favorites! Enjoy!

T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Colt?

Jessica: When I first saw Colt I literally looked down and said “I can see him! "

T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name?

Jessica: We came up with Colt’s name by looking at baby names and we thought his name would be a good farmer/cowboy name. 

T.H. P.: What is life like with a new baby in the house?

Jessica: Life with a new baby in the house has been more of a blessing than I could have ever imagined. Though the nights are long, each day with our kiddos is the best day! 

T.H. P.: What does big sis think?

Jessica: Willow has done so well taking on the role as a big sister. She’s very sweet to her brother, and always wants to hold her Baby Colty (her nickname for him).

T.H. P.: What is something you liked about your session with us? Jessica: What I loved about our session was seeing how well your assistant handled our baby and toddler, it made me feel relieved and I was able to enjoy the process and watch you guys work your magic!

Shawn Preston - Washburn Rural Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I had a great time hanging out with Shawn. I love how his session turned out. We started at the gym to get some great basketball shots of him. He's clearly very passionate about playing and I love how these images really capture that. We then headed to Gage Park and downtown. What started off as a cloudy day ended in the perfect pink and blue sky; the afterglow of the sun setting was just incredible. Photographing Ava was a treat. She is so photogenic and every portrait of her was perfect! I had the honor of photographing her and her step brother Braiden at their beautiful property on the outskirts of Topeka. I'll be sharing his blog post shortly. She has the best smile, she knew how to pose and genuinely had a great time in the session, despite the humidity and climbing temps. A Country Celebration: Ryan and Abigail's Love-Filled Wedding at Circle S Ranch - Lawrence, KS Wedding

In May, I had the chance to photograph Ryan and Abigail at Circle S Ranch, just outside of Lawrence, KS. The place was totally country with beautiful rolling hills stretching as far as the eye could see. It was a sunny, warm day, and you could just feel the love in the air. Abigail is a strong and lovely woman with so much personality and beauty. Her smile could light up a room, and she radiated confidence. Ryan, on the other hand, is the sweetest, funniest, and most tender person you'll ever meet. His playful nature and kind heart made it clear why Abigail fell for him. The moment Abigail came out for their first look was unforgettable. Ryan was in tears, overwhelmed by his love for her. They decided to exchange their vows privately, away from the crowd, which made the moment even more intimate and touching. The way they looked at each other during their vows was heartwarming. Interview with Noah Robinson - Washburn Rural Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

We had a short amount of time with Noah and he had a lot of ideas, I was so excited! He's all country. Fishing, hunting, American Flag, dirtbikes and trucks. I was pretty much in heaven. I knew his session was going to be awesome. I also love his property, it's a great place to shoot. Noah's a little quiet but very photogenic and I could tell he had a great time! I love how these came out. Shooting on a bright and sunny day is one way to get really rich colors from the sky and landscape and I think they were the perfect backdrop for his session. Braxton's session was amazing. When I met him and then looked around at his property, I knew immediately we were going to be able to get incredible images. Not only was everything an incredible setting for him, we had the best clouds and skyline to accent his session. I had a ton of fun on his session and was impressed by his personality. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Charlie was the perfect little model. Just look at her face! She is so cute and weather she was sound asleep or awake, she had the best expression! Interview with Braiden Beninga - Washburn Rural Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Braiden was fun to hang out with. I liked his personality and his sense of humor. He's a smart young man and I enjoyed spending time with him. I liked his subtle humor. He wasn't trying to be funny the whole time but he had me laughing nonetheless. I could tell he enjoyed the session and hanging out with his sister. They make a fun group.
