We had such a fun evening with this amazing family at Shawnee Lake! They wore their Royals gear and looked great in the warm sunset light. We took a mix of posed and candid photos, and they made the session so easy with their laughter and close bond. It was clear how much they enjoy being together, and that always makes for the best photos.

To end the night, they brought out sparklers and fireworks as the sun was setting behind the lake. It was such a cool way to wrap up the session, and it made for some really special pictures. I had a great time with them and loved capturing these moments. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed taking them!

Interview with Laci Cole - Seaman High Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Laci was such a joy to photograph. From the moment she walked into the studio, she was friendly, relaxed, and incredibly easy to work with. She has a great smile and is very photogenic, which always makes a session flow effortlessly. Nothing ever felt awkward, even in between shots, and that made the whole experience feel natural and fun. Her outfits were perfect too—they fit the mood of the photos so well and really pulled everything together. It was also one of those cold, snowy days, so we started inside the studio where it was warm, but we couldn’t resist stepping outside for a few shots. Baby Benjamin’s newborn session was such a sweet and special experience. He is a tiny, beautiful little guy, and from the moment we started, you could feel how excited Mom and Dad were to be there. We took our time and worked carefully to create soft, beautiful images of him, and he gave us the most adorable little expressions. Every photo felt gentle, calm, and full of love, making the entire session a joy to photograph. Some of my favorite images from Benjamin’s session are the family portraits. We had so much fun taking pictures of baby Sienna recently! Her mom and dad are so in love with her, and you can really feel it when you’re around them.  Sienna was a little fussy at first, and it took a few minutes to get her settled—but once she was, she showed us all kinds of cute expressions. Emmy Sue was an absolute dream to photograph. She is beautiful, with perfect skin, and gave us the sweetest little smiles and smirks throughout her session. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Adrian is a senior at Topeka West, graduating with the Class of 2026. She’s been playing soccer since 3rd grade, and her love for the game really showed during her session. She’s confident, driven, and full of energy—and on top of that, incredibly photogenic with a beautiful, bright smile. We spent a lot of time focusing on her passion for soccer, and it was clear how much it means to her. At the end of the session, we headed out to the water at Shawnee Lake, just in time for the most incredible sunset. The sky lit up in a rich orange glow, giving us the perfect backdrop. This session was straight up awesome! A little different than our typical session where we go all over town. Nathan was into his guitars and playing so with that being the theme I thought right around our studio space in Topeka was perfect and we didn't need to go far. Jessica and Kyle at the Governor's Mansion - Topeka, KS Professional Family and Pet Photographers

 We had lots of fun with Jessica and Kyle out at the Governor's Mansion. It's funny because Jessica was laughing about how "bad" her dogs were being but I thought they did great! They are so cute. I love the way they were twisting their heads and smiling at the camera. Super friendly pooches. We really love Jessica and Kyle. They feel like family.
