Introducing sweet baby Braxton! This little guy was such a joy to photograph. With his perfect little face and adorable hair, he was a dream baby. It took him a minute to settle in, but once he did, we captured the most beautiful images of him that truly melted my heart. Braxton’s mom, dad, and big sister are absolutely smitten with him, and it’s easy to see why. During the session, we made sure to include many of the ideas mom and dad brought along, making the photos even more special for their family. It was such a wonderful session, and I’m so honored to have been a part of capturing these early moments for their sweet boy. T.H. Peterson: What was your pregnancy like? Did you have any food cravings or any food aversion? Katie: The first trimester was rough, morning sickness really kicked my butt - other than that my pregnancy was fairly smooth. I craved anything salty and ice cream was my weakness! T.H. P.: What does big sis think? Katie: Big Sis absolutely adores her li...
One of my favorite families! I was blessed to see these guys at one our last studio events this year and we got some beautiful images of their family! I love their sense of humor and relationship with each other, they're a great group! I was blessed to photograph Austen's senior photos almost 10 years ago and then Jonathan and then Sara. So this was really special. Their family is growing and it is really a beautiful thing! These are just some of my favorite images from their session but they had lots of great moments! Enjoy! Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind. Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day). Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain. If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session. This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session. If it is windy, wear your hair up. Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane! Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session. For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...
I recently had the joy of photographing an adorable baby named Forrest. He was so sweet, and his expressions could melt anyone’s heart. His mom was completely head over heels for him, and it was easy to see why. We set up a variety of different scenes to capture his cuteness, and he looked precious in every single one. From soft, cozy blankets to playful props, Forrest’s personality shined through in every photo. It was such a fun session, and I loved seeing the bond between Forrest and his mom. Moments like these are what make photography so special! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw your baby? Katie: Wow! I can't believe he's here, it feels unreal. T.H. P.: Did you have any special cravings or food aversions when you were pregnant? Katie: Loved anything pickled, especially beets. And I could not get enough of strawberry crepes. T.H. P.: Describe his personality. Katie: He's a little sweatheart and is definitely mama's little guy and loves to be he...
This holiday season, I had the pleasure of photographing the Hight and Fenoglio family in our studio. With the whole family together for Christmas, it was the perfect opportunity to create beautiful portraits that will be treasured for years to come. I've been blessed to photograph them often and capture beautiful moments for them often. The session took place in front of a simple, neutral brick background of our studio, which gave the photos a warm and classic feel. Everyone was all smiles and in great spirits, making it easy to capture the joy and love that filled the room. It was a wonderful moment to celebrate the holidays and the bond this family shares. From the laughter to the happy faces, it was clear that they truly enjoy being together. Whether you’re looking to create your own family portraits or capture special holiday memories, it’s always a great idea to book a session when the whole family can be together. I’m so glad I was able to document this special time for the...
Photographing the Rees and Collier families is always a joy, and their recent generational session was no exception. We gathered at mom and dad’s family farm, where the kids grew up—a stunning countryside backdrop complete with a red barn and grazing horses. It was the perfect setting to celebrate their family’s love and history. The session was filled with smiles and laughter, with the kids stealing the show with their adorable grins. Mom and dad beamed with pride, surrounded by their children and grandchildren. Capturing these special moments in a place so meaningful to their story was truly an honor. Thank you, Rees and Collier families, for letting me document this beautiful chapter! This was a very special session. Miss Lainey is so tiny and beautiful and her mommy and daddy are absolutely in love! She is so sweet. Mom and dad had a few ideas, including posing her with dad's BDUs from when he was in the Army. Those were really special. Here are a few of our favorites from the session! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Lainey? Aubrey: How perfect and beautiful she was. That she is the final piece to our family. T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Aubrey: We decided we wanted a Name that started L. Lainey’s dad would give lists of L names to me and I was never set on any of them. We almost decided to go with something different than L. I asked Chris his opinion of Lainey and he told me that he thought of that name recently but was done with getting turned down on all the lists of names he had came up with. That’s how we came up with Lainey. Jean is Lainey’s middle name and she gets that from her Mami (grandma) on her mother’s side....
Last week, I had the honor of photographing a beautiful baby girl named Laya in our studio. She was the perfect baby, so calm and peaceful throughout the session. Her mom and big brother came along, and you could just feel how much they love her. It was such a sweet moment seeing how they looked at her with so much pride and joy. We tried so many adorable newborn poses and props, and Laya absolutely rocked every single one of them. She gave us the cutest little expressions, making the photos even more special. From cozy wraps to tiny headbands, every setup just seemed to fit her perfectly. Laya was such a chill baby, which made the whole session a dream. T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Laya? Kassandra: When we first saw Laya, we were filled with so much love, happiness and just overall grateful. We tried for almost 5 years to have a second child and ultimately had to go through IVF. We are very blessed and love her so much. T.H. P.: How did you come up with her na...
I had the pleasure of photographing Robert, a high school senior from Royal Valley High. Robert is not just your average senior—he’s a football player with an amazing smile and one of the friendliest personalities you could ever meet. We couldn’t have asked for a better day for his session. The weather was perfect, and the sunlight gave everything a warm, golden glow. We started at Ward Meade Park, which is one of my favorite spots. The mix of colorful fall leaves and historic charm gave us some incredible backdrops. Robert was a natural in front of the camera, and his cheerful personality made it easy to capture some great shots. Afterward, we headed out to the countryside near the Governor's Mansion and the Kansas River. The scenery was stunning, especially as the sun began to set. The golden hour light mixed with the vibrant fall colors was absolutely magical. It felt like the perfect way to celebrate the last bits of autumn before the leaves are gone for the season. Overall,...
Last week, I had the chance to photograph Haley, and it was such a fun experience! Haley is super cute and has a great personality that made the session so easy and enjoyable. We started at the Topeka Zoo, where she had a really special moment with the giraffes. Haley is passionate about giraffes, and she even got to feed them, which made for some amazing and unique photos. You could tell how much she loves them, and it was awesome to capture that connection on camera. After the zoo, we headed to the golf course for some more photos. Golf is another big part of Haley's life, and it’s something she’s been doing for a long time. She’s really good at it too! The photos at the course were so cool because they showed a different side of her personality. It was a perfect way to wrap up the session, blending her love for animals and her passion for sports. Haley was such a joy to work with, and I’m so excited for her to see how the photos turned out! T.H. Peterson: What are your plans aft...
