Recently, we photographed Sarah, my assistant (of many years) she’s incredible! Always professional, friendly and fun to be around. I asked her to do a write up for her blog post. Here’s what she wrote: My first experience with T.H. Peterson Photography was 8 years ago. I saw an add for his spring mini sessions and thought it would be a perfect fit for my husband (who hates photos) and my four small kids. That photo shoot resulted in amazing pictures and also a job for me! I’m Sarah, one of Tommy’s photo assistants and this spring my extended family met Tommy at Osage lake for our family photo shoot. This session, like every session we had with Tommy and his team, was easy, relaxed, quick and tons of fun! As someone who is much more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it-Tommy and his assistants always make me and my whole family feel comfortable and confident. I’m happy and proud to call T.H. Peterson my photographer, my employer and my friend. To book your own session, ple
Our session with Ellis was great. She is a tiny baby with a lot of love from mom and dad! She is beautiful and I just love her name. She was great to photograph and looked adorable wrapped up. We got lots of wonderful images of her. These are just some of our favorites! Enjoy! T.H. Peterson: How did you come up with the name Ellis? Haylee: It was a name we found on a baby name website and both me and my husband actually agreed on it. T.H. P.: What did you think when you first saw her? Haylee: she’s so petite and tiny & looks just like her little brother. T.H. P.: Did you have any cravings or food aversions during your pregnancy? Haylee: I craved filled long john donuts. T.H. P.: What is something you liked about your session with us? Haylee: The comfortable seating area for parents to feed, and how at ease we felt with the staff and how they were excellent with us and our baby. T.H. P.: What is life like adjusting to a new baby at home? Haylee: Lack of sleep is real, but we wo
We had such a great time with Lulana. She is so beautiful! I mean, just look at her face. What a doll! Photographing her was fun and I was so excited with the beautiful images we got of her and especially the ones with her mom and grandma. So special! I love capturing those special connections and tender love of a new mom. It's such an incredible moment in time. Here's some of our favorites. We hope you enjoy! T.H. Peterson: What was your pregnancy like? Did you have food cravings? Heartburn, etc? Chenoa: I had so much heart burn towards the end of my pregnancy and lulu came out with lots of hair! I craved cabbage, sushi and ice cream! T.H. P.: What did you think when you first saw Lulana? Chenoa: When I first saw Lulana I thought it was crazy how she was living in my tummy at first. T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Chenoa: I prayed for days and nights for her name to come to me and it did. T.H. P.: What is something you liked about your session with us? Chenoa: I
Our session with Carlie was great! She is a cute baby with lots of love from the family. I feel honored to have been able to capture these beautiful images of her family as she is baby number three and we've been able to document all three. They are a wonderful family and it is amazing to see them growing up! Carlie was a great model and even though she didn't really sleep much during her session, she gave us lots of adorable expressions. Here are some of our favorites! T.H. Peterson: Who does Carlie look like? Danai: She looks just like big sister, Claire; which means she also looks like Dad. T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Danai: We had a few names we have liked but none of them seemed to fit. Shortly after we found out she was a girl, Corey said what do you think about Carlie Dean, and we can spell it using the same letters as Claire’s and Dane’s names. It just felt right! So she has the same letters as both big sister and big brother. T.H. P.: How was your pr
Alexus was a blast to hang out with! We took her senior session, primarily in country and rural settings. We got some amazing looks at Iliff Commons, Governor's mansion and Kaw River Park. Three of my favorite locations for seniors. She had a lot of fun and her smile just lit up her session. She is a laid back but fun young lady. I loved her energy and attitude. She looked great in every image and I think after reading her interview you can see that her personality really shines through and her confidence will take her far in life! It was an honor to capture these for her! T.H. Peterson: What are your plans after high school? Alexus: My plans after highschool are to hopefully go to college to become a lawyer. T.H. P.: What class is your favorite this year? Alexus: My favorite class this year that I took would probably be either Plant and Soil science or English IV. Both teachers I truly liked very well. T.H. P.: What would your dream job be? Alexus: My dream job would either be
Mr Blake Dean is absolutely adorable. He is a chunk and I couldn't help but laugh at his expressions. He was very expressive and very loud lol! I told mom, he has very healthy lungs!! He was a little fussy at first but once we got him wrapped up, he settled and he was just the cutest baby ever! Another highlight of his session was his sister. She's just as adorable and she was a blast to photograph right alongside her brother! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you found out you were having Blake? Jaycee: Nervous but excited. Knowing that I would have a 14 month old and newborn at the same time made me very nervous! T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name? Jaycee: His first name is after my brother, Blake and his middle name is after Darrin’s grandpa T.H. P.: What does big sis think? Jaycee: She isn’t quite sure what to think of him yet. She is slowing warming up to him and starting to try and be involved in helping take care of him, but occasionally will try and sma
Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind. Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day). Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain. If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session. This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session. If it is windy, wear your hair up. Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane! Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session. For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting. Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th
Kingston was such a cute and photogenic little guy to photograph. His expressions were adorable. I remember when we were posing him, he sometimes would turn his head and look directly at us. Like he was really interested in what we were doing. I can tell he already has a lot of personality. Mom and dad are crazy about him and we just had the best session! He is going to be loved his whole life! I am thrilled with the results and am excited to share his session with you! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Kingston? Kyndall: Fell in love, he was absolutely perfect! T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name? Kyndall: I loved the nickname king so he became Kingston. T.H. P.: What is something you liked about your session with us? Kyndall: How gentle you guys were with him and how patient you guys were while getting him relaxed. T.H. P.: What was your pregnancy like? Did you have any cravings? Kyndall: My pregnancy was the easiest pregnancy ever and not many cravings jus
Tracer was such a sweet baby! I remember almost immediately when we started the session, he was comfortable and ready to be posed. Usually it takes a min to get them settled but he was a very good baby. I mean just look at that smile. He smiled almost right at the beginning and he was just a blast to photograph! Here are a handful of our favorite images from the session. Enjoy! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Tracer? Kaitlin: That he was just as amazing as I’d imagined! T.H. P.: How did you guys come up with his name? Kaitlin: His father came up with it! T.H. P.: What was your pregnancy like? Any food cravings or aversions? Kaitlin: My pregnancy was wonderful, especially feeling his little movements, lots of fruit cravings! T.H. P.: What is something you liked about your session with us? Kaitlin: I loved your creativity! The different outfits to put him in and the outfits were too precious! And the little couch was perfect! T.H. P.: Who does Tracer look like? Kait
Sawyer is a CUTE kid! He was so chill and photographing him was a blast. I love the portraits we got of him and the images with mom and dad are super special! He even gave us a smile right at the start! Even as a newborn you can see he's got lots of personality! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Sawyer? Jill: I was just so happy and excited that he was finally here. It felt so unreal! T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name? Jill: We struggled at first trying to find ones we both liked. We wanted something different, but not weird and we both liked Sawyer! For his middle names, we both liked Ellis and thought it went well with Sawyer, and Wayne after my dad who passed in 2012. T.H. P.: Something you liked about your session with us? I loved how good you guys Jill: were with him. As a first time parent, it’s a little nerve racking to hand your baby over to people, but you guys did amazing! T.H. P.: What is life like adjusting to a new baby? Jill: It’s definit
