Everly's newborn shoot - Interview with mom - Osage County's Premier Newborn Photographers

Everly is the cutest little lady with her adorable bright eyes and her sweet face!  She is just like a precious doll! She took a while to get settled in, and she had a few breaks with mommy, but overall her session was super amazing!  She had some great shots with her sleeping on the newborn bag, and she really posed herself. Her little hands looked so cute when she pulled them up to her face as she slept.  We were able to wrap her in this pretty teal color and she looked so perfect! Mom watched and helped our assistant as we worked to get her session going.  
T.H. Peterson:  How did you find out you were pregnant? Was it a shock or expected?
Erin:  It was a definite surprise! Our 7 year old was very excited to finally have a sibling on the way.
T.H. P.:  How did your oldest daughter react to seeing her sister for the first time?
Erin:  Ella was so excited to walk into the hospital room and see her new baby sister. It was one of the few times Ella was actually speechless! She sat right down in the chair and was ready to hold her right away.
T.H. P.:  Did you have any unique cravings during your pregnancy?
Erin:  It was unique for me to crave anything sweet. Normally I prefer salty snacks, but while I was pregnant I could not get enough chocolate!
T.H. P.:   What kind of newborn items do you use often and love the most? 
Erin:  We have a Halo Swivel Sleeper Bassinet and mamaRoo baby swing that have been really helpful when it comes to getting a little bit of sleep. We also love the Boppy pillow for comfort when anyone is holding Everly.
T.H. P.:  What was your favorite part about your newborn session with us?  
Erin:  Our favorite part of the newborn session was the patience you showed with Everly. She was not willing to sleep much or stay swaddled, but you both worked with her and were very patient the entire time.

Interview with Lauryn Gilfillan - Seaman High Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Lauryn is one of the coolest seniors I’ve ever met. From the moment we started her session, I could tell she was completely herself—funny, creative, and so much fun to be around. We started downtown in Topeka, and she even brought a Funko Pop of herself, which made for some awesome and unique pictures. I wanted to make sure I captured her personality because she’s so colorful and full of life, and I think we nailed it! We also took pictures at the Cyrus Hotel, where she totally rocked the modern and classy vibe. After that, we ended at the Capitol, and the photos there turned out absolutely beautiful. Photographing the Rees and Collier families is always a joy, and their recent generational session was no exception. We gathered at mom and dad’s family farm, where the kids grew up—a stunning countryside backdrop complete with a red barn and grazing horses. Photographing Kaitlynn’s sweet 16 at Shawnee Lake was such a special experience. I’ve been taking her pictures since she was little, so it was amazing to see how much she’s grown up! The setting sun made everything look beautiful, and her outfits were perfect. She brought smoke bombs and balloons, which made the photos even more fun and colorful. Molly was amazing to photograph! She’s a senior at Washburn Rural High School, Class of 2025, and she was so beautiful and natural in front of the camera. We started her session with some fall portraits at sunset, and the colors were just perfect. The golden light made everything look magical, and Molly’s smile made every photo stand out. She was super easygoing, which made the session so much fun. After sunset, we headed downtown to Topeka for some cool nighttime shots. We ended up on top of a parking garage that had an awesome view of the city skyline. The lights of the city in the background made the photos look incredible. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Madison was such a blast to photograph! She’s super fun and full of energy, and her smile made every picture look amazing. We started her session downtown, then went to Ward-Meade Park, and ended near the Governor's Mansion at sunset. The golden hour lighting was so pretty, and it made her photos look magical. A proud Taylor Swift fan, Madison wanted to incorporate her love for the iconic artist into the session.  She made the whole session so fun, and I’m so happy with how the pictures came out. Grand Teton Wedding - Beautiful fall wedding on the lake - Matt and Alena say I do!

In Sept, I packed up my camera and hit the road to Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park for a wedding that was really close to my heart. This wasn't just any wedding—it was for my old friend, Matt, and his beautiful bride, Alena. Matt isn’t just a friend; he’s one of the first photographers I ever trained, and he worked with me way back when. He’s a genuinely nice guy, and I always knew he deserved someone special. After spending just a short time around Alena, it was clear to me that she’s his soulmate. They’re absolutely perfect together. The trip itself was an adventure. My son, Moses, came along for the ride, and it took us two days to get there. We couldn’t have timed it better—the aspens were at their peak, with bright golden leaves that covered the landscape like a painting. Happy birthday Camille! First Year Photo Shoot - Cake Smash - Topeka's Best Baby Photographers

Camille’s first birthday cake smash was such a joy to photograph! We kicked off the session with some Christmas-themed photos, and she was all smiles, showing off so much personality. Camille was an absolute natural in front of the camera – she just lit up the room. Her expressions were priceless, and she made every shot a keeper! Once we moved on to the cake smash, things got even more fun! Camille went right for the cake with a curious look and then big, happy giggles as she dug in. Interview with Aubrey Richman - Lyndon High Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I had the best time photographing Aubrey from Lyndon High School for her senior session! We kicked things off in downtown Topeka, where Aubrey brought tons of energy and personality to every shot. She showcased her cheerleading skills, along with her love for volleyball, and her joy was contagious. Her beautiful smile lit up every scene, and it was so easy to capture her bright spirit. The weather was amazing, with clear skies and a perfect golden hour glow that made everything even better. As the sun began to set, we made our way to the Governor's Mansion, where the light was absolutely stunning. The final shots by the Kansas River were my favorites of the whole session. The soft colors from the sunset reflected on the water, adding a warm, natural touch to every photo.
