Vignery Family at Iliff Commons - Beautiful fall session - Topeka's Best Family Photographers

We're trying to get caught up on blogging past sessions and this one I'm excited about. We photographed the Vignery family out at Iliff Commons in north east Topeka and it was the perfect backdrop for their family session. The sunset casting a warm glow on the overgrown grass and trees made the most perfect setting for this awesome family. Happy, funny, smiley, loving... all words I'd use to describe their dynamic. It was great and I just loved all the images we were able to capture for them. I looked back at portraits we did for them before and they've always had such great expressions. This was a wonderful session and I'm super thankful to be able to share it! Enjoy!

Interview with Hunter Kirkwood - Washburn Rural Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

It was such a great morning photographing Hunter for his senior session at the lake. When we arrived, we were surprised at how empty the park was. It made the whole session feel peaceful and relaxed, and it gave us plenty of space to capture some great photos. The morning started off cloudy and a little dreary, but by the end of the session the sun began to come out, giving us some beautiful light to finish with. The whole setting felt calm, comfortable, and just really enjoyable. One thing that stood out right away about Hunter was how easy he was to talk to. He has a great personality and made the session feel very natural. We had some great conversations while walking around the lake and finding different spots for photos. Hunter is a genuinely nice guy, and it was a pleasure getting to know him a bit during his session. Hayes's newborn photos - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Hayes was such a beautiful baby boy! He had lots of hair and was so peaceful and chill, which made our job so much fun. Even though he slept most of the time, every once in a while he would peek his eyes open and give us the funniest little looks. You could tell right away that he had a lot of personality. Mom and Dad are completely smitten with him—they just can’t get over how cute he is! I’m so excited about how these photos turned out. This session was actually a practice for one of our newer assistants learning baby wrapping, and Hayes was the perfect little model to help her learn. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Emmy Sue was an absolute dream to photograph. She is beautiful, with perfect skin, and gave us the sweetest little smiles and smirks throughout her session. From the moment she arrived, her calm presence and tiny expressions completely stole our hearts. She was a little fussy at first — just like most babies — but once she was swaddled, she settled right in and posed so wonderfully. Kyren was truly one of the most chill babies we’ve ever photographed. From the moment he came in, he was calm, sweet, and just went with the flow. He has so much hair and gave us the cutest little expressions throughout the session. Honestly, he made our job so easy. He let us move him, pose him, and try different setups without a fuss. Sessions like that are such a gift, and we were able to capture some really beautiful images of him. This was also one of the sessions where our new assistants were getting some hands-on practice, and they had the best time working with Kyren. Baby Penelope was absolutely adorable and had a full head of beautiful hair that everyone noticed right away. Her mom was completely crazy about her, and it was so sweet to see the love between them during the session. Penelope was such a calm baby most of the time, which made the whole experience feel very relaxed and peaceful. Even when she had a few little fussy moments here and there, she settled right back down and kept everyone smiling. One of my favorite things about Penelope was how expressive she was. Ethan was such a joy to photograph during his newborn session! He is a beautiful, mellow little guy with big, sweet eyes and the most precious expressions. He made our job so easy with how chill and happy he was throughout the session. Delainey was the most perfect little baby! Tiny, precious, and so peaceful, she slept right through almost her entire session. Sweet baby Radley was just three days old for his newborn session, and he was the calmest, chill little guy you could imagine. Such a tiny little thing, with the softest features and the sweetest expressions, he gave us a session full of quiet moments, tiny smirks, and little smiles that made everyone melt. He was so relaxed the entire time, which made it easy to capture those peaceful, cozy newborn images that parents love looking back on.
