Interview with Jake Thompson - SFT Class of 2023 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

We are super excited to share Jake’s senior session!  He had an amazing session with warm weather, a killer sunset and some of the best photos we have taken this year!  He nailed every single pose and expression, and he was so much fun to hang out with!  He had a really fun, laid back vibe and we were really able to capture his personality in these portraits.  And we shot the session at his house, the lake a few miles from his home, and Carbondale, where he has grown up.  It meant alot to him and his parents to be able to have them taken locally.  Thank you for checking out these photos and we hope you love them as much as we do!
T.H. Peterson: What classes are you enjoying most this year?
Jake: Broadcast & video and weights.

T.H. P.: What are your plans after high school?

Jake: Attend Baker or KU for nursing or pre med.

T.H. P.: What would you consider a dream job?

Jake: Trauma Surgeon or Nurse Anesthetist

T.H. P.: How would your friends describe you?

Jake: “Jake is a good and reliable friend, always good for a laugh and a goofy lil lad with a goofy lil sense of humor."

T.H. P.: What makes you feel confident?

Jake: Being around my friends and people I know.

T.H. P.: What advice has your mom or dad given you that you will always hold close to you?

Jake: Enjoy what you have because you don’t know when something or someone’s gonna be gone.

T.H. P.: Favorite movie ever.

Jake: The Revenge of the Sith.

T.H. P.: What cartoon or kids show were you obsessed with when you were little?

Jake: The Clone Wars.

Knox's newborn session - Interview with mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Meet Knox – the sweetest little guy! During his newborn session, he was such a joy to photograph. We used several adorable props and backdrops, and Knox gave us a little smile... basically we gushed over him! His expressions were so precious, showing off his personality even at such a young age. Knox’s mom and dad are absolutely crazy about him, and it’s easy to see why! They were glowing with love during the session, and it was so special to capture these moments for their family. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

I recently had the joy of photographing an adorable baby named Forrest. He was so sweet, and his expressions could melt anyone’s heart. His mom was completely head over heels for him, and it was easy to see why. We set up a variety of different scenes to capture his cuteness, and he looked precious in every single one. From soft, cozy blankets to playful props, Forrest’s personality shined through in every photo. It was such a fun session, and I loved seeing the bond between Forrest and his mom. This was a very special session. Miss Lainey is so tiny and beautiful and her mommy and daddy are absolutely in love! She is so sweet. Mom and dad had a few ideas, including posing her with dad's BDUs from when he was in the Army. Those were really special. Here are a few of our favorites from the session! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Lainey? Aubrey: How perfect and beautiful she was. That she is the final piece to our family.  T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Aubrey: We decided we wanted a Name that started L. Lainey’s dad would give lists of L names to me and I was never set on any of them. We almost decided to go with something different than L. I asked Chris his opinion of Lainey and he told me that he thought of that name recently but was done with getting turned down on all the lists of names he had came up with. Ella, a senior from Silver Lake High School, was such a joy to photograph! She’s super photogenic and brought so much energy to her session. Ella is a talented athlete, playing basketball, volleyball, and running track, and it’s easy to see her confidence shine through. We started her session in the studio, capturing some stunning shots, and then braved the snow for a few outdoor photos that turned out amazing. Laya's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Last week, I had the honor of photographing a beautiful baby girl named Laya in our studio. She was the perfect baby, so calm and peaceful throughout the session. Her mom and big brother came along, and you could just feel how much they love her. It was such a sweet moment seeing how they looked at her with so much pride and joy. We tried so many adorable newborn poses and props, and Laya absolutely rocked every single one of them. She gave us the cutest little expressions, making the photos even more special. From cozy wraps to tiny headbands, every setup just seemed to fit her perfectly. Laya was such a chill baby, which made the whole session a dream. T.H. Interview with Robert - Royal Valley Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Photos

I had the pleasure of photographing Robert, a high school senior from Royal Valley High. Robert is not just your average senior—he’s a football player with an amazing smile and one of the friendliest personalities you could ever meet. We couldn’t have asked for a better day for his session. The weather was perfect, and the sunlight gave everything a warm, golden glow. We started at Ward Meade Park, which is one of my favorite spots. The mix of colorful fall leaves and historic charm gave us some incredible backdrops. Robert was a natural in front of the camera, and his cheerful personality made it easy to capture some great shots. Afterward, we headed out to the countryside near the Governor's Mansion and the Kansas River. The scenery was stunning, especially as the sun began to set. One of my favorite families! I was blessed to see these guys at one our last studio events this year and we got some beautiful images of their family! I love their sense of humor and relationship with each other, they're a great group! I was blessed to photograph Austen's senior photos almost 10 years ago and then Jonathan and then Sara.
