Desch Family at Iliff Commons - Beautiful summer evening family portrait session - Topeka's Family Photographers

We had a great time with the Desch family! They are a sweet family and we got some pretty cute moments with them. Even though Iliff Commons is a popular place for portraits, we lucked out and seemingly had the whole place to ourselves! It was a gorgeous evening with the best sunset light. We even got some happy portraits of their doggys! Tons of special moments, lots of laughs, even when they came back to the studio to look through them, I was so happy with images we got. Noble's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Baby Noble was such a sweet little guy to photograph. He had the cutest expressions when he was awake—so curious and just taking everything in with those little eyes. When he drifted off to sleep, he was completely peaceful and relaxed, making it easy to capture those soft, cozy newborn moments that parents love so much. He was calm, content, and just so easy to adore throughout the entire session. We also got to spend time photographing him with his big brother, and that part was especially special. At first, big brother was a little hesitant and unsure, but he warmed up beautifully as the session went on. By the end, we were getting the sweetest moments—kisses, hugs, and genuine love with little Noble. Linley's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Linley was such a beautiful little baby, and she already looks so much like her mama. One of the first things you notice about her is her hair—it’s lighter in color, but so incredibly thick that you can’t miss it. Most of the time with blonde babies, it’s hard to tell just how much hair they have, but not with Linley. She has a full head of it, and it photographed so beautifully. She was calm, sweet, and made the session feel easy from start to finish. We were also able to capture some really special moments with her big sister, who absolutely adored her and loved being part of the session. Grandma was there too, helping out and making sure everything went smoothly, which always makes a difference. Avery and Jeremiah’s engagement session at the Kansas Museum was such a great evening. The sun was out, and there was this soft haze in the sky that made everything feel extra warm and beautiful. It was one of those nights where the light just works perfectly, and it made their photos feel even more special. I’ve had the chance to photograph them before, and it was just as fun this time around. These two are so easy to photograph because they genuinely enjoy being around each other. Their chemistry shows up in every smile and they just had a great time together the whole session. I loved getting to capture that. We photographed sweet baby Landry, and she was absolutely adorable. One thing that immediately caught my eye was how much hair she had—and it was in the cutest little mohawk. I even grabbed a close-up of it because the shape was just so funny and perfect. She was such a good baby the whole time, and her session felt really calm and easygoing. We also got some beautiful photos with mom and dad that really showed that connection and love. The whole session had a very sweet, relaxed feel to it, and everything just came together so naturally.   Grady was such a sweet little guy, and he had a full head of hair that just made him even more adorable. His two big sisters were completely in love with him, and it showed in every photo. They were so gentle and sweet, and honestly, I was really impressed with how interested and cooperative they were during the session. We were able to get some really beautiful images of all three of them together, and those moments felt really special. Lovelyn's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

There are sessions that just feel special from the start, and Lovelyn was one of those babies. She was so sweet, so cute, and had the most calm, mild-mannered personality. She made my job easy with her adorable little expressions and how relaxed she was through most of the session. Toward the end she got a little fussy, but even then she was still so good. It’s always amazing how much personality can already show up in such a tiny little human, and Lovelyn definitely had it. What made this session even more meaningful for me was getting to photograph Hunter again—this time as a mom. I took her senior portraits several years ago, and now here she is with a baby of her own. That’s one of the things I love most about what I do, getting to be part of these moments as life comes full circle. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...
