Dava and Ed's Engagement session - Beautiful sunset session at Kansas Governor's Mansion - Topeka's Wedding and Engagement Portraits

I've known Dava for a long time and this was a very special session. We'll be photographing their wedding and to be able to capture these engagement portraits for them was awesome. My first impression of Ed was great. He is a gentleman through and through. And I could tell very quickly. I could also tell how happy they are together and that chemistry made their session that much more fun. Here's some of our favorites!

Our session with Lilly was amazing! She is such a great model and looked amazing in every photo. I loved her energy and demeanor. She was laid back and very smiley and happy. It was really fun hanging out with her. Her locations were incredible and they made the perfect backdrops for her shoot. I could tell very quickly that Lilly will do very well in life. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Kiera's shoot was really awesome. The property we got to photograph on was so photogenic and I think was the perfect backdrop to show off her personality and passions! She is a girl with a tough exterior but deep down, she's a sweet young lady! She has a good sense of humor and I really enjoyed being able to capture these images for her. Our session with Eli was great! It was a beautiful day and we focused on his passion for flying! I think in 20+ years, this was a first for me! So much fun and what an interesting experience! I learned a lot just being there and one thing that's always fun is it is a good opportunity for the senior being photographed to talk about what they do and that helps the session and the experience! It's been a month since I had the pleasure of photographing Damen and Camah’s beautiful wedding at Cedar Forest Valley in De Soto, KS. The venue was absolutely stunning—surrounded by lush trees, rolling hills, and an awesome pond that added a touch of magic to the whole setting. From the moment I arrived, everyone was in such great spirits as they got ready. The small, intimate wedding party made the day feel even more special, with so many laughs and so much happiness filling the rooms as the couple prepared for their big moment. The outdoor ceremony by the pond was truly gorgeous. With their closest friends and family gathered around, Damen and Camah exchanged vows against the backdrop of serene water and towering trees.
