Forrest's newborn session - Interview with mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

I recently had the joy of photographing an adorable baby named Forrest. He was so sweet, and his expressions could melt anyone’s heart. His mom was completely head over heels for him, and it was easy to see why. We set up a variety of different scenes to capture his cuteness, and he looked precious in every single one. From soft, cozy blankets to playful props, Forrest’s personality shined through in every photo. It was such a fun session, and I loved seeing the bond between Forrest and his mom. Moments like these are what make photography so special!

T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw your baby? Katie: Wow! I can't believe he's here, it feels unreal.

T.H. P.: Did you have any special cravings or food aversions when you were pregnant?

Katie: Loved anything pickled, especially beets. And I could not get enough of strawberry crepes.

T.H. P.: Describe his personality.

Katie: He's a little sweatheart and is definitely mama's little guy and loves to be held and sung to.

T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name?

Katie: I loved everything that came to mind about the name Forrest, coming from the actual word forest and everything it represents- strength, peace, growth.

T.H. P.: Something you liked about your session with us? Katie: Our session was great- the little setups were awesome and I'm already certain without seeing them yet that they'll be my favorite photos ever.

Jessica and Anthony tie the knot - Stunning country wedding - Topeka Wedding Photography

Jessica and Anthony’s wedding day couldn’t have been more perfect. They said their vows on a bridge overlooking a beautiful pond, surrounded by tall grass, trees, and the peaceful countryside. The weather was just right, and everywhere you looked there were smiling faces, happy tears, and the warmth of family and friends who came to celebrate their love. It was one of those days that just felt special from beginning to end. The celebration that followed was full of laughter, dancing, and joy. The DJ kept the dance floor packed all night, and the food was absolutely delicious. Their bridal party was full of energy and love, cheering them on every step of the way. We had such a great time photographing Addy’s senior session! We started in the studio and then headed out around Scranton and down to the lake. It was a beautiful day — perfect weather and golden light! Like most seniors, Addy took a little bit to warm up in front of the camera, but once she did, her real smile came out, and it was absolutely gorgeous. We’ve had the joy of photographing Sara and her family for many years, so being part of her wedding day was something truly special. Seeing her step into this new chapter of her life was such a meaningful moment—not just for her family, but for everyone who’s watched her grow over the years. You could feel the love and excitement all around as friends and family gathered to celebrate Brock and Sara’s beautiful fall wedding at Reynolds Lodge at Shawnee Lake. We had such a great time photographing Coby for his senior session! I’ve photographed him a few times over the years, so it was really special to capture this milestone for him. Coby goes to Santa Fe Trail and plays baseball, and he’s just a really good guy—confident, down-to-earth, and easy to be around. We started part of his session on their property and then headed to a farm just north of Scranton. The views out there were amazing, and it felt like everything lined up perfectly for us. He really wanted a sunset for his senior photos, and wow, did we get one! The golden hour light that evening was absolutely stunning—the kind of sunset I rarely get to see. We had such a great time photographing Parker around downtown Topeka, Washburn Rural, and the Kansas Governor’s Mansion. He brought his car along and even included his girlfriend in a few shots, which made the session extra fun. Parker is super photogenic and gave us plenty of nice smiles, making it easy to capture his personality on camera. Interview with Bryce Cormier - Silver Lake High School Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Bryce is a really great senior from Silver Lake High School, and his session was a blast. We started at Shawnee Lake, where we photographed him in his wrestling gear, complete with medals and uniforms—it was really awesome to showcase that part of his personality. We also got some fun shots with his fishing pole, capturing a mix of his interests. Then we headed downtown, and the evening was just perfect—the golden hour made every shot pop. Bryce has an amazing smile and was super easy to work with, which made getting a variety of photos a lot of fun. One of my favorite parts of the session was photographing him with his Dodge Charger. That bright orange car is stunning and really shows off his personality. We got shots that were playful, some more serious, and plenty that felt completely natural. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

We had such a great time photographing Liam for his senior photos! He was super easy to work with and made the whole session fun. We started at his school, capturing him on the track and soccer field, especially doing hurdles—something he’s really passionate about. You could tell just how much he loves what he does, and it really shows in his photos. Liam is very photogenic and seemed to naturally know how to pose, which made our job even easier. After wrapping up at the school, we headed downtown and then out to the country to catch the setting sun over the beautiful rural Kansas landscape. We had such a great time photographing Maddie for her senior session! She’s a senior at Topeka West, super friendly, and so easy to photograph. We started downtown and got some really beautiful shots there. Even in the middle of the city, the sunlight came through just right and made her hair glow. She looked absolutely stunning in those sunlit photos! After downtown, we headed to a few spots near the Governor’s Mansion where the light was just perfect. The sun shining through the leaves and tall grass gave everything this warm, golden feel that looked amazing. Maddie was a total natural in front of the camera and made the whole session fun.
