Mr Braxton is on the blog! Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Introducing sweet baby Braxton! This little guy was such a joy to photograph. With his perfect little face and adorable hair, he was a dream baby. It took him a minute to settle in, but once he did, we captured the most beautiful images of him that truly melted my heart.

Braxton’s mom, dad, and big sister are absolutely smitten with him, and it’s easy to see why. During the session, we made sure to include many of the ideas mom and dad brought along, making the photos even more special for their family. It was such a wonderful session, and I’m so honored to have been a part of capturing these early moments for their sweet boy.

T.H. Peterson: What was your pregnancy like? Did you have any food cravings or any

food aversion?

Katie: The first trimester was rough, morning sickness really kicked my butt -

other than that my pregnancy was fairly smooth. I craved anything salty and ice

cream was my weakness! 

 

T.H. P.: What does big sis think? Katie: Big Sis absolutely adores her little brother! She is such a good helper. Blakely rushes to console him every chance she gets. It’s safe to say she’s definitely a little mother hen. 

T.H. P.: What did you think when you first saw him?

Katie: When I first saw him I thought he was absolutely perfect. His big blue eyes stole my heart right away. 

T.H. P.: What is something you enjoy about your session with us? 

Katie:  We enjoyed everything about our session with Tommy! The welcoming energy and creative atmosphere goes unmatched every time. 

T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name? Katie: We wanted to stick with “B” names for our kiddo’s.  We both agreed on Braxton Alan. We love the nickname Brax and it just stuck! Alan is a family name from numerous generations on both sides of the family so choosing our little man’s name came very naturally!

Kaleo's newborn session - Interview with mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Kaleo came into the studio for his newborn session, and from the moment he arrived, he was so calm and sweet. He was such a beautiful baby, completely content, and made the cutest little faces throughout the session. We captured some really special images of Kaleo all by himself, soaking in those tiny details that change so fast in these early days. It was one of those sessions that just felt easy and peaceful from start to finish. Mom and dad are absolutely crazy about him, and you can feel that love in every photo. Interview with Adrian Romero - Topeka West Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Adrian is a senior at Topeka West, graduating with the Class of 2026. She’s been playing soccer since 3rd grade, and her love for the game really showed during her session. She’s confident, driven, and full of energy—and on top of that, incredibly photogenic with a beautiful, bright smile. We spent a lot of time focusing on her passion for soccer, and it was clear how much it means to her. At the end of the session, we headed out to the water at Shawnee Lake, just in time for the most incredible sunset. The sky lit up in a rich orange glow, giving us the perfect backdrop. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Mallory + Chris - Rea Wedding - Central Presbyterian and Heritage Hall

Chris and Mallory said their I do's on May 24, 2014 and we were there to capture all the love and emotions and crazy moments. Mallory looked stunningly beautiful on her special day! Chris was definitely all smiles and even seemed a little nervous before the ceremony but when Mallory walked down the aisle, there was no denying how happy he was.... he even shed some tears! Holly and Brian's beautiful day - Amazing country wedding - Burlingame, Kansas

Brian and Holly’s wedding was one of those days that just felt good from start to finish. We photographed their wedding on their property overlooking the countryside just outside of Burlingame, and it was absolutely beautiful. It was a crisp, cool day, the kind that makes you want to bundle up a little closer to the people you love. Friends and family traveled from all over to be there, and you could feel how meaningful it was for everyone to gather together and celebrate Brian and Holly. These two are such a great couple—so loving and clearly crazy about each other. Their connection is something special, and it was evident in every glance, smile, and quiet moment they shared. The ceremony took place outside under a tent, which honestly was probably a good thing because it was pretty chilly out. Eric and April's Wedding Reception - 6th Avenue Ballroom - Roaring 20s theme - Topeka Wedding Photographers

Eric and April's wedding reception was truly an experience. It was unique and special and so much fun!! They had a destination wedding so they hired us just to shoot their party now that they're back and could invite all their friends and family. There's so many things I loved about their party. I loved the theme of the party. Everyone participated and had amazing outfits. I loved the food, it was from Aboud's and it was AMAZING!!! Chloe's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Little Chloe came into the studio at just three weeks old, and we were instantly smitten. She’s one of the tiniest newborns we’ve ever photographed, but wow—she came with a big dose of personality. With all that beautiful hair and her bright, expressive eyes, she kept us smiling from the very beginning. Mom and Dad are absolutely crazy about her, and it shows in every moment. Chloe made so many funny little faces that we couldn’t help but laugh right along with her. Toward the end of the session, she finally relaxed and drifted off to sleep, giving us the chance to capture those peaceful, dreamy shots everyone loves. We were able to get so many beautiful photos of her, from her wide-eyed expressions to her tiny, sleepy poses. She’s incredibly adorable, and spending time with her and her parents was truly a joy. Jax's 4th Birdday Party!!! Splashing and crashing like Angry Birds! Topeka, KS Children's Portrait Photographers

 So recently we had an opportunity to photograph Mr. Jax's birthday party! He was turning 4 and it was right up my alley, ANGRY BIRDS!!!! My four year old has me hooked. It was so much fun and perfect for a hot day like this one. Jax and all his buddies partied on this giant inflatable water slide. Even some of the parents jumped on and got in on some of the action. Jax was in a great mood and ready for the party! There were tons of great expressions and fun shots but as always had to narrow it down. Malaki's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Baby Malakai was an absolute dream during his session. At just two weeks old, he showed up with a full head of hair, the cutest little expressions, and the most chill personality. He let us pose him in all the sweetest setups, and every time he relaxed into a new pose, it just made all of us smile. Hanging out with him and his parents made the whole session feel easy, calm, and really special. Mom and Dad were fully in love, and it showed the entire time. They were just gushing over every tiny stretch, yawn, and smirk he made. Watching their excitement as we captured these moments was one of my favorite parts of the day.
