Interview with Brayden Hawks - Elkhorn South High School Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Brayden and his family made the trip down from Omaha for his senior session, even though they're originally from the Topeka area. We actually had to split his session into two days because it started raining during the first one. At the time it was a little disappointing, but it ended up working out for the best. We were able to photograph in several completely different locations, from downtown streets and a grungy industrial look to beautiful architecture and finally the Kansas River. The extra time gave us even more variety, and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out.

Brayden was so easy to photograph. He has a great personality, was confident in front of the camera, and brought a lot of different styles that really fit each location. Whether we were showing his love for show choir, his fashion sense, or just capturing who he is, every part of the session felt natural. His mom came along too, and since she's a photographer herself and has even helped us with sessions before, it made creating these images for their family even more meaningful. It was such a fun couple of sessions, and I love the amazing variety we were able to create together.

T.H. Peterson: Plans after high school?
Brayden: I'll be going to college for Dentistry.
T.H. P.: Dream job?
Brayden: My plan is to become a dentist, but my dream job would be to be a singer or do something involving music.
T.H. P.: Favorite classes you've had?
Brayden: I loved my Foods class. My mom taught me how to cook, but I learned even more in that class. My second favorite class has been AP U.S. History.
T.H. P.: Can you tell me about your experience with show choir, and what do you love about it so much?
Brayden: Oh man, there's so much to say about it, but probably my two favorite things would be all of the friends I've made through it and competing against so many other talented schools. We have so much fun!
T.H. P.: Something you've enjoyed with your sessions with us?
Brayden: I really loved that my session was laid back, but you gave me a lot of variety. And it was fun getting to stand in the river.
T.H. P.: What has kept you busy this summer?
Brayden: I stay busy with work, writing songs, and playing sand volleyball with my friends.
T.H. P.: What makes you feel confident?
Brayden: I like to stay in shape, so probably working out.
T.H. P.: How would your friends describe you?
Brayden: I think my friends would describe me as happy and outgoing.
T.H. P.: Favorite holiday?
Brayden: My favorite holiday is Christmas. I love the decorations, the music, and all of the festivities.
T.H. P.: Favorite music to listen to?
Brayden: My favorite music is pop and R&B. There are so many great artists, but I also love listening to rap when I'm driving.

Some senior sessions just feel like they fit the person perfectly, and that was definitely the case with this one. We headed out to his family’s property and used the farm as the backdrop for his photos. Between the old barns, weathered buildings, vintage tractor, his truck, and of course his horse, there was no shortage of great locations. Wyatt Robert's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Sweet little Wyatt was in the studio for his newborn session, and what a joy he was to photograph. Mom told me he weighed over nine pounds at birth, and he was definitely a chunk! He had the cutest blonde hair and even gave us several little smiles and smirks during the session. He was such a sweet baby, and we were able to create some really precious images that I know his family will treasure for years to come. One thing that made this session especially meaningful for me was seeing Wyatt's dad as a father. More than 10 years ago, I photographed his senior pictures, and now here he is holding his newborn son. Life has a way of moving fast. Wyatt is also the very first grandbaby on both sides of the family, so you know he's going to be absolutely spoiled with love. We had such a great time photographing Mia for her senior portraits! She is a talented senior from Shawnee Heights and one of those people who is just naturally photogenic. She brought so much personality to her session with lots of beautiful smiles, great expressions, and some really amazing outfits. Her dogs joined us for part of the session, which made things even more fun. We started at Shawnee Lake and later headed downtown, finishing up around the Cyrus Hotel and the Capitol. Even though the weather wasn't ideal and we had to deal with some rain, Mia absolutely shined in every location. One of my favorite things about this session was seeing how confident and comfortable Mia was in front of the camera. Interview with Sadie Craig - West Franklin High School Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Senior sessions like Sadie's are the ones that really get my creative side going. She has such a unique style, and from the moment she showed me examples of the kinds of photos she loved, I knew this wasn't going to be a typical senior session. She was drawn to dramatic, cinematic, and darker images, and I couldn't wait to bring those ideas to life. Of course, we made sure to capture the classic smiling portraits everyone loves, but some of my favorite images from her session were the ones where we pushed ourselves creatively with dramatic lighting, movement, interesting posing, and a little bit of artistic storytelling. We had a great time photographing Juan from Highland Park High School for his senior portraits. We started at the Capitol and got some really nice photos around the grounds before heading over to the Governor's Mansion. What made this session a little different is that we photographed everything right in the middle of the day. Normally, we like to include some country locations closer to sunset, but the light worked out beautifully and we were able to create some amazing images throughout the entire session. Juan was a lot of fun to photograph. He has a great personality, is very easy to talk to, and is naturally photogenic. The session seemed to fly by as we spent a lot of time talking about his plans after high school and some of the things he enjoys doing. Kinslee's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

We recently had the pleasure of photographing sweet little Kinslee, and what a fun session it was! Mom and Dad were so excited to capture this special time in their lives, and their joy was easy to see throughout the entire session. Kinslee was absolutely adorable and seemed to love being in front of the camera. She even gave us a few precious little smiles and smirks that made everyone in the room melt. One of our favorite parts of the session was watching Mom and Dad with their baby girl. Every little thing Kinslee did brought big smiles to their faces, and it was clear how much they adore her. Interview with Hannah Marchant - Topeka West High Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Hannah was so much fun to photograph for her senior session at Ward Meade Park . One of the coolest parts of the day was when she showed me a photo we had taken of her when she was little. Even though it had been years, I actually remembered photographing her, which made for a fun trip down memory lane. Hannah has a bright personality and an amazing smile, and she was incredibly photogenic from the moment we started. Her mom came along for the session too, and it was great getting to spend some time with both of them. It was a warm day, but Hannah handled it like a pro. As a dancer, she knows how to bring energy and confidence in front of the camera, and it definitely showed in her photos. She wore two great outfits during the session. Nate's senior session was one of those mornings that reminds us why we love what we do. We met bright and early at 6 a.m. on a beautiful family farm where we've photographed several of his cousins over the years. The sunrise could not have been more perfect, giving us amazing light and a beautiful backdrop for his photos. Nate is a student-athlete at Hayden High School, where he plays both football and golf, and he brought a great attitude to the entire session. He was easygoing, cooperative, and really got into the experience. One of my favorite things about Nate's session was seeing his personality come through in the photos. He's a sharp looking young man, and his outfits were great, especially the suit, which gave us some really classy images. Interview with Jude Haverkamp - Shawnee Heights High School Class of 2027 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Jude’s senior session was such a fun one, and it was great getting to photograph him again. I’ve also photographed his family before, and one thing that has always stood out to me is how friendly and easygoing he is. He’s just a genuinely nice kid and was completely on board with all of the ideas we came up with during the session. We started at Shawnee Heights High School on the stage with his cello. His mom suggested the location, and I’m so glad she did because we were able to create some really dramatic images using mostly the stage lights. After that, we headed to the Kansas State Capitol, where the skies put on an amazing show for us. The beautiful clouds and evening light made for some of my favorite images from the session. From there, we made our way downtown and stopped at Evergy Plaza. By then it was getting dark, and the fountains were lit up with changing colors. Rico's senior session was such a fun one from start to finish. He is a good-looking young man with a great smile, an easygoing personality, and a laid-back attitude that made him a pleasure to photograph. We started downtown before heading to Shawnee Lake and Bettis Family Sports Complex, where we captured some photos that reflected his love of soccer. From there, we found a beautiful spot with tall grass and a country feel, and we wrapped up the evening by the water at Shawnee Lake. The variety of locations gave us so many different looks, and Rico looked great in every one of them. One of the things that stood out most during the session was how respectful Rico was and how close he is with his family. His mom joined us for the session, and it was easy to see the great connection they share.
