Shelly and Shawn tie the knot! - Lawrence, KS Wedding Portrait Photographers

 Last Saturday Matt and I had a great time photographing an awesome couple from Lawrence. It was frigid outside but it was beautiful and warm inside! Shelly and Shawn tied the knot and this is the record of their amazing and beautiful day!

 The kids in this wedding were some of the most adorable kids EVER!

 Shawn and the wedding party waiting in the back for the wedding to start. He admitted he was kind of nervous. It was really nice to see that :).
 The groomsmen were all in great moods!






 The ceremony was as beautiful as the decor. A perfect location for these two to be married!


 Everyone is in a great mood, obviously!



 One of the neatest things I've ever seen at a wedding was what these guys did. They literally went back after and hugged and greeted every single person in the sanctuary that attended their wedding. It was a very special thing to do!



 These guys were so silly! It was lot so of fun capturing their personalities!



 Now, off to the reception!
 They chose to celebrate at a BEAUTIFUL location, Maceli's in Lawrence, on New Hampshire St. A gorgeous location with lots of style, mood and class. The food looked amazing. The place was intimate and made for the PERFECT place to enjoy each other's company. Very romantic!

The wedding was absolutely beautiful. The reception was amazing. I feel honored that we got to be a part of such a special day!

Baby Oakley was an absolute dream to photograph! This precious little girl, who looks just like her mama, was so calm and posed perfectly for us. Because she was so cooperative, we got to try new poses, props, and backdrops, making the session extra special. I had so much fun photographing Brody and Kiera, a pair of high school siblings who came to the studio for a just-for-fun session! Their bond was easy to see, laughing and teasing. They brought such a natural vibe to every shot. I love sessions like this that capture the joy of family without needing a special occasion. Meet Knox – the sweetest little guy! During his newborn session, he was such a joy to photograph. We used several adorable props and backdrops, and Knox gave us a little smile... basically we gushed over him! His expressions were so precious, showing off his personality even at such a young age. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Our session with Lainey was perfect. She was such a beautiful little model. We took her session with her family and her big brothers were adorable and a lot of fun. Azaria’s senior session was one to remember! We braved the freezing cold, with snow covering the ground, to capture her love for softball. The golden hour sunset added a warm glow, making the field look magical. She brought along softball shirts from childhood and past teams, a special touch that told the story of her journey. Despite the cold, Azaria did amazing, smiling through every shot and showcasing her passion for the game. Her confidence and determination shone through, creating beautiful and meaningful photos. Erika and Brad are the sweetest family, and I loved photographing their newborn session. Their new baby, Luciana, has so much hair that I joked it looked like a wig! Her big sister, Addy, wasn’t too interested in the session, but we still managed to capture some really sweet moments of them together. Even though this was a quick session, we got some beautiful images of their little family. Newborn sessions are always special, but there’s something extra sweet about capturing those early days with a new baby. Luciana was so peaceful, and her tiny features were just perfect.
