 I am so happy to share the Koehn's session on our blog! They did amazing! Their session as the last of the day on our mini session event and they did great as usual. The light was soft and beautiful. In fact the sun had already gone down but that always gives us the softest most pleasing light of the day! It wasn't long ago actually that we were doing their wedding and now we're doing family photos again. It was great to see them. They're always so nice and fun to photograph. Their kids are super cute and cooperative as well lol. Great session and here are some of our favorites from the day. Enjoy!!

Layton was such a beautiful baby, and she gave us the sweetest little expressions throughout the whole session. Kate and Adam's big day - Governor's Row House - Topeka Wedding Photography

Photographing Kate and Adam’s wedding was such a special experience. What was supposed to be a gray, rainy day turned into beautiful sunshine, and it honestly felt like everything just came together perfectly. Their venue had this warm, welcoming feel, and you could tell right away that this wasn’t just a wedding—it felt like a big family reunion. So many loved ones had traveled in, and the support from their family was obvious in every moment. The speeches were great, the father of the bride was so happy, and there were so many genuine smiles and happy tears throughout the day. Kate and Adam were an absolute joy to work with. Noble's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Baby Noble was such a sweet little guy to photograph. He had the cutest expressions when he was awake—so curious and just taking everything in with those little eyes. When he drifted off to sleep, he was completely peaceful and relaxed, making it easy to capture those soft, cozy newborn moments that parents love so much. He was calm, content, and just so easy to adore throughout the entire session. We also got to spend time photographing him with his big brother, and that part was especially special. At first, big brother was a little hesitant and unsure, but he warmed up beautifully as the session went on. By the end, we were getting the sweetest moments—kisses, hugs, and genuine love with little Noble.   Grady was such a sweet little guy, and he had a full head of hair that just made him even more adorable. His two big sisters were completely in love with him, and it showed in every photo. They were so gentle and sweet, and honestly, I was really impressed with how interested and cooperative they were during the session. We were able to get some really beautiful images of all three of them together, and those moments felt really special. Avery and Jeremiah’s engagement session at the Kansas Museum was such a great evening. The sun was out, and there was this soft haze in the sky that made everything feel extra warm and beautiful. It was one of those nights where the light just works perfectly, and it made their photos feel even more special. I’ve had the chance to photograph them before, and it was just as fun this time around. These two are so easy to photograph because they genuinely enjoy being around each other. We photographed sweet baby Landry, and she was absolutely adorable. One thing that immediately caught my eye was how much hair she had—and it was in the cutest little mohawk. I even grabbed a close-up of it because the shape was just so funny and perfect. She was such a good baby the whole time, and her session felt really calm and easygoing. We also got some beautiful photos with mom and dad that really showed that connection and love. The whole session had a very sweet, relaxed feel to it, and everything just came together so naturally. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Meeting Tate was just the sweetest. He came in with a full, beautiful head of blonde hair and the tiniest little features, making all kinds of adorable faces the whole time. He was calm and snuggly, and the session felt so easygoing from start to finish. You could just feel how much Mom and Dad adore him—there was so much love in every little moment, and it made capturing these images feel really special. Big brother was a huge fan right from the start. He was so proud, giving Tate hugs and kisses and wanting to be close to him the whole time. Bree and Trent’s engagement session was just one of those shoots that reminds me why I love what I do. We started things off in the studio, keeping it clean and simple with a seamless backdrop so all the focus stayed right on them. Right away, you could see how natural they are together—lots of laughs, easy smiles, and just that genuine connection you can’t fake. After that, we headed out to Osage Lake near the studio, and man… we could not have asked for a better day. The skies were that perfect deep blue, the light was beautiful, and everything just came together.
