So recently we had an opportunity to photograph Raina's high school graduation party. Raina graduated from Washburn Rural H.S. It was a great time with her friends and family and we were able to create something very special for her. She is going to Georgia to follow her dreams and go to college there to learn photography. In fact, if you'd like to check out her photo page on facebook it's Raina M Forgy Photography. She's been our assistant helping us with different events, usually as one of our greeters which we love because she's so nice and friendly. You may also recognize her face as we've shot her senior pictures last year. She's also works at the Classic Bean, one of our favorite places ever!! All in all, it was a great afternoon with lots of laughs and as you'll see in the video, plenty of tears as well. Raina's family and friends love her SO MUCH and of course they don't want to see her go. We definitely wish her the best and know she'll do amazing. She's a very smart young lady and a hard worker and very creative. In fact, the cupcakes you see above, SHE made them. And they were GOOOOOOOOD!!! She's quite the baker! We've been lucky to know her and to have her a part of our team.

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! They were perfect! What a wonderful session and what a special story mom has to tell! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you found out you were having twins? Taylor.: I was shocked and did not know anything about twins before being pregnant with them. I later found out identical twins are a fluke and do not run in families. It’s been been a learning experience for sure but I would not trade it for the world. T.H. P.: What did you think when you first saw them? Taylor.: Due to complication of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, I had the girls via c-section at 29 weeks. My first glance was brief before they were whisked away to the NICU. Recently, we photographed Sarah, my assistant (of many years) she’s incredible! Always professional, friendly and fun to be around. I asked her to do a write up for her blog post. Here’s what she wrote: My first experience with T.H. Peterson Photography was 8 years ago. I saw an add for his spring mini sessions and thought it would be a perfect fit for my husband (who hates photos) and my four small kids. That photo shoot resulted in amazing pictures and also a job for me! I’m Sarah, one of Tommy’s photo assistants and this spring my extended family met Tommy at Osage lake for our family photo shoot. Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind. Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day). Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain. If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session. This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session. If it is windy, wear your hair up. Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane! Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session. For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting. Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th
Tracer was such a sweet baby! I remember almost immediately when we started the session, he was comfortable and ready to be posed. Usually it takes a min to get them settled but he was a very good baby. I mean just look at that smile. He smiled almost right at the beginning and he was just a blast to photograph! Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Diego? Destrie: I thought he was so cute and was also in total shock because I just had another baby! T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name? Destrie: I have always loved the name Diego, and so I knew when I had a second boy he would have that name. T.H. P.: What does big bro think? Destrie: His brother is in total awe of him. Always checking on him and making sure to say “what mister” anytime he cries. T.H. P.: What is something you liked about your session with us? Sawyer is a CUTE kid! He was so chill and photographing him was a blast. I love the portraits we got of him and the images with mom and dad are super special! He even gave us a smile right at the start! Even as a newborn you can see he's got lots of personality! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Sawyer? Jill: I was just so happy and excited that he was finally here. It felt so unreal! T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name? Jill: We struggled at first trying to find ones we both liked. We wanted something different, but not weird and we both liked Sawyer! For his middle names, we both liked Ellis and thought it went well with Sawyer, and Wayne after my dad who passed in 2012. T.H. Mr Walter is such a precious little baby! We had a great time posing him and working with him. He has such a sweet face. It was really special creating these images for mom and dad and also being able to incorporate them into the session. Peterson: What did you think when you found out you were pregnant? Megan: We found out I was pregnant the morning of our house warming party over the summer. We were both so excited but also worried/hesitant to be overly excited since our first pregnancy had ended in a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks. T.H. P.: What was your pregnancy like? Any food aversions or cravings? Megan: Overall it was a pretty easy pregnancy. My first trimester I had no appetite and suffered from morning sickness if I did eat. I ended up losing 25 pounds over the pregnancy, but gained
What a cute face! Ferris was the perfect little model! He was such a sweet baby and even though he did not want to go to bed easily, he gave us adorable expressions and I think these photos show off his personality. He is a handsome little boy! We expected a 9lb baby and he was only 7lbs 12oz. T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name? Lori: In my best Ben Stein voice, "Bueller Bueller Bueller....Bueller......" T.H. Lori: Ferris was really fussy and kept spitting up, yet everyone remained so calm, kind, and patient with him, even stopping to let him eat in the middl
Deacon was fun to hang out with. He is very photogenic and capturing his personality and energy was a blast. We had such a great evening to get these images of him. And even though we took these pretty much in the dead of winter, you'd really never know. The temps were great and the trees looked incredible in the glow of the setting sun. It was such a great session to document this special time in Deacon's life. I admire him and know he'll do great things in life. His discipline and positive outlook will guide him in the future!
