Interview with Tessa VanCamp - SFT Class of 2022 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Tessa was a lot of fun to photograph! She had a great personality and I felt like we clicked great! The cool thing was mom told me she was interested in having a waterfall in her portraits if possible and we just found this waterfall the day before. What great timing! So we took some at Osage Lake and then walked through the woods to find the waterfall and the images we got there were just phenomenal. I’m so thrilled with how everything turned out! Super excited to share!

T.H. Peterson: What will you miss most about your time at SFT?

Tessa: Definitely my friends, they made my time worth it.

 

T.H. P.: Any plans for the summer?

Tessa: Working and hang out with friends before life starts.

T.H. P.: What are your plans for college?

Tessa: Take a 1 year of prerequisite and apply for Washburn radiology program.

T.H. P.:  What would be your dream job?

Tessa: Traveling and rating places to get money.

T.H. P.: What did you enjoy most about your shoot with us?

Tessa: Taking pictures near the waterfall was an interesting experience.

T.H. P.: Favorite place to eat in Topeka?

Tessa: Noodle Company/ Olive Garden.

T.H. P.: If you could take a vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Tessa: Asian, they have a ton of pretty places and amazing food.

T.H. P.:  If you had 30 min and $1000 and had to spend it in one store, where would you go?

Tessa: Best Buy.

T.H. P.: What's a movie you're looking forward to seeing?

Tessa: Avatar 2

T.H. P.: In the little time we spent with you, you were a lot of fun to hang out with and seemed pretty spunky. How would your friends describe you?

Tessa: Caring, sweet, outgoing, and friendly.

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! We had the most absolutely perfect day for the Popkess family's spring session at Ward Meade. Sadly the tulips are all gone however the lush greenery made a perfect backdrop anywhere we posed this adorable family! How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Diego? Destrie: I thought he was so cute and was also in total shock because I just had another baby! T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name? Destrie: I have always loved the name Diego, and so I knew when I had a second boy he would have that name. T.H. P.: What does big bro think? Destrie: His brother is in total awe of him. What a handsome little guy! I loved photographing Declan and his session was just perfect! I especially loved capturing the details like his spikey hair. Totally adorable! Hanna, who is a long time client, has recently begun helping us with newborns and it's been a huge blessing not only to our business but to her as well as she has had an opportunity to grow as a photographer herself and practice on getting better at wrapping and posing babies. She is growing by leaps and bounds and I am so thankful to have her on our team! She's someone I always appreciate having around! What a sweet baby! We had a wonderful time with Kayson and his mom and dad. They are so proud of him and you can tell they are going to raise him right and give him lots of love his whole life. Cove was the sweetest little girl. She was so mellow and easy to photograph. She was just the cutest baby. During our first moments together, she just stared at me and was so calm, I couldn’t have fallen more in love.  T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Sierra: Her big brothers name is Cash, so I knew I wanted another one syllable name. When I stumbled upon Cove and said the names together, it was an instant yes. She’s already gotten the nickname of Coco as well, which is so cute.  T.H. P.: What is life like with a new baby in the house?
