Ferris's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

What a cute face! Ferris was the perfect little model! He was such a sweet baby and even though he did not want to go to bed easily, he gave us adorable expressions and I think these photos show off his personality. He is a handsome little boy! Here are a handful of our favorites!

T.H. Peterson: How was your pregnancy? Did you have any food cravings or

aversions? 
Lori: Some foods I craved were sour gummies and nerds ropes.   I did not like

anything made with milk.   

T.H. P.: What did you think when you first saw Ferris? 
Lori: He was so perfect, but much smaller than they told me he would be.   We expected a 9lb baby and he was only 7lbs 12oz.  
T.H. P.: How did you come up with his name?
Lori:  In my best Ben Stein voice, "Bueller Bueller Bueller....Bueller......"
T.H. P.: Something you liked about your session with us?  
Lori: Ferris was really fussy and kept spitting up, yet everyone remained so calm, kind, and patient with him, even stopping to let him eat in the middle if the session. 
T.H. P.: What do his siblings think? 
Lori: They are in LOVE ❤️.   He never gets put down.

Now this was a special session! It's not often we photograph multiples for newborn sessions but these little girls were just perfect and despite them being born several months ago, because they were so premature they photographed just like brand new newborns! We had the most absolutely perfect day for the Popkess family's spring session at Ward Meade. Sadly the tulips are all gone however the lush greenery made a perfect backdrop anywhere we posed this adorable family! How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

I was so excited to photograph Larae as she is the beautiful baby of a very long time client, like probably 15-20 years. So this was a very special occasion that I wanted to make sure was absolutely perfect and it was! Larae is just precious and such a chill baby! Hanna, who is a long time client, has recently begun helping us with newborns and it's been a huge blessing not only to our business but to her as well as she has had an opportunity to grow as a photographer herself and practice on getting better at wrapping and posing babies. What a sweet baby! We had a wonderful time with Kayson and his mom and dad. They are so proud of him and you can tell they are going to raise him right and give him lots of love his whole life.
