Annika's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

I recently got to photograph baby Annika, and she was so adorable! She had a lot of beautiful hair, which made her even cuter. Annika's parents were great too, and you could really see how much they love her. It made the session so special. I loved taking pictures of her sweet little face. This session with Annika and her parents was so much fun, and I'm really happy I got to capture these moments for them.

T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Annika?

Kacie: I was astonished by the overwhelming feeling of love I had for

her right away! One of my first thoughts was, “omg what a big baby!”

In retrospect, she was just very swollen but she weighed in at just shy

of 8lbs. She was taken to the NICU pretty quickly due to a problem

with her breathing, so I didn’t really get to hold her until the next day.

By then she seemed so much smaller.

T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name?

Kacie: We wanted something unique but not too weird. We didn’t want her to share a name with anyone we knew and I’ve only ever known of one person named Annika. When we were trying to decide, the name just stuck with us. When I found her middle name, I loved how simple it was and just flowed. We knew it was the one pretty quickly.

T.H. P.: What is life like with a new baby in the home?

Kacie: It’s been pretty great! She’s a content baby and her father has been an amazing partner. Things haven’t been too exhausting or crazy — yet 🤣

T.H. P.: Something you liked about your session with us?

Kacie: I loved how smoothly the session went. Sarah is a baby whisperer!! I was worried about Annika being fussy or squirming too much. Neither of which happened! Sarah kept her very comfortable and relaxed. And she knew how to soothe her once posed! I trusted her with Annika right away.

T.H. P.: Did you have any food aversions or food cravings when pregnant?

Kacie: I didn’t really have any aversions or weird cravings. I noticed that I quit craving fast food like I would before pregnancy. Cravings wise I would just get set on wanting things I would normally have.

Eli Feather - Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Our session with Eli was great! It was a beautiful day and we focused on his passion for flying! I think in 20+ years, this was a first for me! So much fun and what an interesting experience! I learned a lot just being there and one thing that's always fun is it is a good opportunity for the senior being photographed to talk about what they do and that helps the session and the experience! How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Our session with Trenten was outstanding. It was great because we really got to showcase his passion in life which are the sports he plays. We highlighted wrestling, football and baseball. What an adorable baby. On more than one occasion during our session, I heard mom say, "She's sooo cute!" I totally agree, what a beautiful tiny little human. So precious. Perfect little features and I even commented to mom that it is very common for babies to have blotchy skin or blemishes but her skin was perfect, like no flakes at all! Pretty amazing. Camah and Damen's big day - Beautiful ceremony at Cedar Valley Forest - De Soto, KS - Kansas Wedding Photographers

It's been a month since I had the pleasure of photographing Damen and Camah’s beautiful wedding at Cedar Forest Valley in De Soto, KS. The venue was absolutely stunning—surrounded by lush trees, rolling hills, and an awesome pond that added a touch of magic to the whole setting. From the moment I arrived, everyone was in such great spirits as they got ready. The small, intimate wedding party made the day feel even more special, with so many laughs and so much happiness filling the rooms as the couple prepared for their big moment. The outdoor ceremony by the pond was truly gorgeous. With their closest friends and family gathered around, Damen and Camah exchanged vows against the backdrop of serene water and towering trees. I really enjoyed meeting and photographing Kylee. She is so photogenic and was a natural in front of the camera! Miss Taylor was such a joy to photograph! We were blessed to capture multiple sessions with her. She is so photogenic and sweet. I love the images that we were able to make for her. Damien and Brianna's Big Day - Amazing Wedding at Abe and Jake's Landing - Lawrence, Kansas

In August, I had the privilege of photographing Damien and Brianna’s wedding at Abe and Jake's Landing in Lawrence, Kansas. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, the day was full of love, laughter, and so much joy. The ceremony was intimate and heartfelt, with Damien and Brianna exchanging vows in front of everyone they care about most. It was clear how much love they have for each other. After the ceremony, the reception was a blast! There was tons of dancing, laughter, and fun as everyone celebrated Damien and Brianna's big day. The energy in the room was incredible, and it was clear everyone was having an amazing time. From the first dance to the last song, the reception was packed with unforgettable moments.
