Grand Teton Wedding - Beautiful fall wedding on the lake - Matt and Alena say I do!

In Sept, I packed up my camera and hit the road to Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park for a wedding that was really close to my heart. This wasn't just any wedding—it was for my old friend, Matt, and his beautiful bride, Alena. Matt isn’t just a friend; he’s one of the first photographers I ever trained, and he worked with me way back when. He’s a genuinely nice guy, and I always knew he deserved someone special. After spending just a short time around Alena, it was clear to me that she’s his soulmate. They’re absolutely perfect together.

The trip itself was an adventure. My son, Moses, came along for the ride, and it took us two days to get there. We couldn’t have timed it better—the aspens were at their peak, with bright golden leaves that covered the landscape like a painting. We were surrounded by these beautiful, saturated fall colors that made the drive unforgettable.

The ceremony took place on Jackson Lake with the Teton mountains right there in the background. It was a breathtaking setting, like something out of a movie. The ceremony was held at Hatcher Resort, which was a perfect choice. Everything about that day was filled with happiness—so many smiles, laughs, hugs, and of course, a lot of love. It felt like time slowed down, and we just soaked up every moment. Moses and I made memories that we’ll hold onto forever, and I’ll never forget how special it was to see my friend start his new life with his perfect match in such a stunning place.

Photographing Kaitlynn’s sweet 16 at Shawnee Lake was such a special experience. I’ve been taking her pictures since she was little, so it was amazing to see how much she’s grown up! The setting sun made everything look beautiful, and her outfits were perfect. She brought smoke bombs and balloons, which made the photos even more fun and colorful. Interview with Lauryn Gilfillan - Seaman High Class of 2025 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Lauryn is one of the coolest seniors I’ve ever met. From the moment we started her session, I could tell she was completely herself—funny, creative, and so much fun to be around. We started downtown in Topeka, and she even brought a Funko Pop of herself, which made for some awesome and unique pictures. I wanted to make sure I captured her personality because she’s so colorful and full of life, and I think we nailed it! We also took pictures at the Cyrus Hotel, where she totally rocked the modern and classy vibe. After that, we ended at the Capitol, and the photos there turned out absolutely beautiful. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

I had the pleasure of photographing Zach, a senior from Lebo, Kansas, Class of 2025. We split his session into two parts to capture everything that makes him unique. The first session was all about his sports and some fun shots downtown. For the second, we headed to a gorgeous country property just outside of Lebo, and it couldn’t have been a better setting. Molly was amazing to photograph! She’s a senior at Washburn Rural High School, Class of 2025, and she was so beautiful and natural in front of the camera. We started her session with some fall portraits at sunset, and the colors were just perfect. The golden light made everything look magical, and Molly’s smile made every photo stand out. She was super easygoing, which made the session so much fun. After sunset, we headed downtown to Topeka for some cool nighttime shots. I had a great time photographing Kingston for his senior session, which we split into two days. He’s full of charisma and confidence, with a smile that can light up a room. Kingston’s passion for football really stood out during the first session at Washburn Rural's football field. You can tell he’s dedicated to the game—his energy was contagious as we captured action shots and moments in the locker room. Seeing him in his element, where he’s put in so much hard work, was inspiring. For the second session, we switched things up and headed to Clarion Woods. I had an awesome time photographing Connor, a senior from Washburn Rural, who’s got such a fun personality and isn’t afraid to be himself. We started the session on the track to capture his love for running, where he just lit up, making jokes and not taking himself too seriously. The setting sun hit just right, casting that warm golden-hour glow over everything. Connor was full of energy, laughing and showing off his unique style, which made for some pretty great shots. After the track, we headed to a pond out back to capture Connor doing something else he loves: fishing. The pond was surrounded by tall grass that looked amazing in the sunset light. Bryer's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

This week, I had the chance to photograph the sweetest little guy in our studio: baby Bryer. From the moment he arrived, he had this calm and curious vibe, just looking around and taking everything in. Bryer barely fussed, making it so easy to capture his adorable expressions, from wide-eyed stares to the cutest little smiles. He’s already got a special charm that made each photo feel unique. Bryer’s big brother, a lively toddler, joined in for some shots, and their connection was heartwarming. You could see the bond between them, with big brother being curious and gentle.
