Interview with Preston Ross - Washburn Rural Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I had a great time photographing Preston’s senior session at Shawnee Lake during a beautiful sunset. We started at Ted Ensley Gardens and made our way around the entire lake, stopping at a few scenic spots along the way. The evening light was perfect, and we finished the session on the east side with an amazing sky over the water—one of my favorite ways to wrap up a shoot. Preston has a great sense of humor and a personality that shines. He’s not afraid to be himself, which made the session relaxed and fun. You’ll definitely see that come through in his photos and his interview. I’m super happy with how everything turned out. Here are a few of our favorite images!

Interview with Laci Cole - Seaman High Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Laci was such a joy to photograph. From the moment she walked into the studio, she was friendly, relaxed, and incredibly easy to work with. She has a great smile and is very photogenic, which always makes a session flow effortlessly. Nothing ever felt awkward, even in between shots, and that made the whole experience feel natural and fun. Her outfits were perfect too—they fit the mood of the photos so well and really pulled everything together. It was also one of those cold, snowy days, so we started inside the studio where it was warm, but we couldn’t resist stepping outside for a few shots. Even with the freezing temps, we were able to capture some really cool images with the snow, and they turned out amazing. It was so nice meeting Laci and her mom—they were both wonderful. Kaleo's newborn session - Interview with mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Kaleo came into the studio for his newborn session, and from the moment he arrived, he was so calm and sweet. He was such a beautiful baby, completely content, and made the cutest little faces throughout the session. We captured some really special images of Kaleo all by himself, soaking in those tiny details that change so fast in these early days. It was one of those sessions that just felt easy and peaceful from start to finish. Mom and dad are absolutely crazy about him, and you can feel that love in every photo. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Interview with Adrian Romero - Topeka West Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Adrian is a senior at Topeka West, graduating with the Class of 2026. She’s been playing soccer since 3rd grade, and her love for the game really showed during her session. She’s confident, driven, and full of energy—and on top of that, incredibly photogenic with a beautiful, bright smile. We spent a lot of time focusing on her passion for soccer, and it was clear how much it means to her. At the end of the session, we headed out to the water at Shawnee Lake, just in time for the most incredible sunset. The sky lit up in a rich orange glow, giving us the perfect backdrop. Sienna's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

We had so much fun taking pictures of baby Sienna recently! Her mom and dad are so in love with her, and you can really feel it when you’re around them.  Sienna was a little fussy at first, and it took a few minutes to get her settled—but once she was, she showed us all kinds of cute expressions. She has so much personality in her little face, and it was so fun to capture that. We got some really beautiful shots with different poses, props, and backdrops. I’m so happy with how the photos turned out—they really show the love this family has for each other. Sienna is such a sweet baby, and I know her family will treasure these pictures forever. T.H. Baby Benjamin’s newborn session was such a sweet and special experience. He is a tiny, beautiful little guy, and from the moment we started, you could feel how excited Mom and Dad were to be there. We took our time and worked carefully to create soft, beautiful images of him, and he gave us the most adorable little expressions. Every photo felt gentle, calm, and full of love, making the entire session a joy to photograph. Some of my favorite images from Benjamin’s session are the family portraits. There is something so special about seeing him in his parents’ arms, looking so safe and precious. The connection between them is so natural and strong, and it shows in every image. Jax's 4th Birdday Party!!! Splashing and crashing like Angry Birds! Topeka, KS Children's Portrait Photographers

 So recently we had an opportunity to photograph Mr. Jax's birthday party! He was turning 4 and it was right up my alley, ANGRY BIRDS!!!! My four year old has me hooked. It was so much fun and perfect for a hot day like this one. Jax and all his buddies partied on this giant inflatable water slide. Even some of the parents jumped on and got in on some of the action. Jax was in a great mood and ready for the party! There were tons of great expressions and fun shots but as always had to narrow it down. Gabby's senior session was an absolute blast! From the moment we met, I felt like we clicked instantly—she's just that cool. She’s creative, artistic, and has such a fun, genuine personality. We spent a beautiful sunny afternoon in Topeka capturing her love for all things 90s, Blink-182, and her passion for music. Kuno - Krogman Wedding - Todd and Megan say their I Do's! Governor's Row House - Topeka, KS

This summer has been incredibly mild and it went out with a bang for Todd and Megan's big day! It was absolutely beautiful! We couldn't have asked for better. Megan is such a sweetheart. So nice and laid back, the perfect bride! She looked so pretty coming down the aisle and smiled so beautifully that it was truly exciting to be a part of their special day! The Governor's Row House, as usual was cute and decorated stylishly. I love their details and furniture. Makes for a great backdrop for weddings! As Megan and Todd exited the ceremony they were bombarded with candy sprinkles! How fun! The funny thing was the kids were trying to eat them all. I don't know if more were thrown or gobbled up by the kids lol. We wish this very special couple the very best!
