Parker's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

 Meet Parker! We photographed him in the studio for his newborn session, and right away I couldn’t help but notice how smiley he was. I even told his mom he might have been the smiliest baby we’ve ever had in front of the camera. Then she pulled out the pictures we took of his big brother when he was a newborn, and it all came back to me—he was just as smiley! It’s pretty incredible to see those sweet similarities between the two boys.

Parker was such a calm, chill little guy, which made the whole session flow so smoothly. He gave us so many cute expressions and had such an animated little face. It was such a joy spending time with this sweet family again and capturing these new memories. I’m thrilled with how the photos turned out and can’t wait for them to look back on these images for years to come.

T.H. Peterson: What were your first thoughts when you saw Parker?
Janine: I think I thought something along the lines of “he’s really here!” I was so glad he arrived safely and with a smooth delivery.

T.H. P.: Who does he look like?
Janine: He definitely looks like his brother’s newborn pictures.
T.H. P.: What does big brother think?
Janine: Big brother is in love. He’s very caring towards him, giving him lots of hugs and kisses, and singing him songs.
T.H. P.: What’s something you liked about your session with us?
Janine: Sarah was great with Parker. She helped make sure he was comfortable and soothed throughout the session.
T.H. P.: Even though he’s really young, have you noticed some kind of personality from him?
Janine: He gives us lots of sleepy smiles and is a big cuddle bug. He enjoys all the attention from his big brother.

Interview with Laci Cole - Seaman High Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Laci was such a joy to photograph. From the moment she walked into the studio, she was friendly, relaxed, and incredibly easy to work with. She has a great smile and is very photogenic, which always makes a session flow effortlessly. Nothing ever felt awkward, even in between shots, and that made the whole experience feel natural and fun. Her outfits were perfect too—they fit the mood of the photos so well and really pulled everything together. It was also one of those cold, snowy days, so we started inside the studio where it was warm, but we couldn’t resist stepping outside for a few shots. We had so much fun taking pictures of baby Sienna recently! Her mom and dad are so in love with her, and you can really feel it when you’re around them.  Sienna was a little fussy at first, and it took a few minutes to get her settled—but once she was, she showed us all kinds of cute expressions. She has so much personality in her little face, and it was so fun to capture that. We got some really beautiful shots with different poses, props, and backdrops. Baby Benjamin’s newborn session was such a sweet and special experience. He is a tiny, beautiful little guy, and from the moment we started, you could feel how excited Mom and Dad were to be there. We took our time and worked carefully to create soft, beautiful images of him, and he gave us the most adorable little expressions. Every photo felt gentle, calm, and full of love, making the entire session a joy to photograph. Some of my favorite images from Benjamin’s session are the family portraits. Interview with Adrian Romero - Topeka West Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

Adrian is a senior at Topeka West, graduating with the Class of 2026. She’s been playing soccer since 3rd grade, and her love for the game really showed during her session. She’s confident, driven, and full of energy—and on top of that, incredibly photogenic with a beautiful, bright smile. We spent a lot of time focusing on her passion for soccer, and it was clear how much it means to her. At the end of the session, we headed out to the water at Shawnee Lake, just in time for the most incredible sunset. The sky lit up in a rich orange glow, giving us the perfect backdrop. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

This session was straight up awesome! A little different than our typical session where we go all over town. Nathan was into his guitars and playing so with that being the theme I thought right around our studio space in Topeka was perfect and we didn't need to go far. We got some with his girlfriend and his sister. I absolutely loved his session. The light was really working with us that day too.  We had lots of fun with Jessica and Kyle out at the Governor's Mansion. It's funny because Jessica was laughing about how "bad" her dogs were being but I thought they did great! They are so cute.
