Catalina's Newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Catalina was such a sweet little baby and an absolute natural in front of the camera. She made our job so easy with her calm, laid-back personality, and her full head of hair was impossible not to notice! We got some beautiful shots of her by herself and some adorable family photos with her proud mom and dad.

It was such a joy to capture these first moments with her family. Catalina’s easygoing nature and sweet expressions made the session fun, and I love that her parents have these memories to treasure forever.

T.H. P.: How did you come up with Catalina's name?
Monzerrat: We wanted a name that wasn’t super common and could translate easily in both Spanish and English, and Catalina felt like the perfect fit.

T.H. P.: What did you think when you first saw her?
Monzerrat: I was surprised by how much hair she had and how much smaller she was than the doctors had told us she would be.
T.H. P.: Who does she look like?
Monzerrat: She definitely looks like her dad.
T.H. P.: What did you like about your session?
Monzerrat: I really appreciated how patient you and your assistant were. You took your time and never made us feel rushed, which made the whole experience so comfortable.
T.H. P.: What was the hardest part of your pregnancy?
Monzerrat: The hardest part was dealing with gestational diabetes.

Ethan was such a joy to photograph during his newborn session! He is a beautiful, mellow little guy with big, sweet eyes and the most precious expressions. He made our job so easy with how chill and happy he was throughout the session. Interview with Hunter Kirkwood - Washburn Rural Class of 2026 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

It was such a great morning photographing Hunter for his senior session at the lake. When we arrived, we were surprised at how empty the park was. It made the whole session feel peaceful and relaxed, and it gave us plenty of space to capture some great photos. The morning started off cloudy and a little dreary, but by the end of the session the sun began to come out, giving us some beautiful light to finish with. The whole setting felt calm, comfortable, and just really enjoyable. One thing that stood out right away about Hunter was how easy he was to talk to. He has a great personality and made the session feel very natural. We had some great conversations while walking around the lake and finding different spots for photos. Hayes was such a beautiful baby boy! He had lots of hair and was so peaceful and chill, which made our job so much fun. Even though he slept most of the time, every once in a while he would peek his eyes open and give us the funniest little looks. You could tell right away that he had a lot of personality. Mom and Dad are completely smitten with him—they just can’t get over how cute he is! I’m so excited about how these photos turned out. This session was actually a practice for one of our newer assistants learning baby wrapping, and Hayes was the perfect little model to help her learn. Baby Penelope was absolutely adorable and had a full head of beautiful hair that everyone noticed right away. Her mom was completely crazy about her, and it was so sweet to see the love between them during the session. Penelope was such a calm baby most of the time, which made the whole experience feel very relaxed and peaceful. Even when she had a few little fussy moments here and there, she settled right back down and kept everyone smiling. One of my favorite things about Penelope was how expressive she was. Kyren was truly one of the most chill babies we’ve ever photographed. From the moment he came in, he was calm, sweet, and just went with the flow. He has so much hair and gave us the cutest little expressions throughout the session. Honestly, he made our job so easy. He let us move him, pose him, and try different setups without a fuss. Sessions like that are such a gift, and we were able to capture some really beautiful images of him. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Miss Delainey Joanna's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Delainey was the most perfect little baby! Tiny, precious, and so peaceful, she slept right through almost her entire session. It was a practice session for one of our newer baby assistants, and Delainey made it so easy to wrap and pose her perfectly. She really was a dream to work with! Mom and dad were over the moon with how everything turned out. Dad even had a super fun idea with a deer head, and we were able to bring his vision to life just right.
