Tobias's newborn session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Tobias was seriously one of the sweetest little babies we’ve ever photographed. He had the cutest little face and the calmest personality, which made the whole session feel really special. Mom and dad were there soaking in every moment, and Grandma came along too—completely in love with her new grandson. You could just feel how much this little guy is already adored. Tobias was a perfect little model the entire time, giving us the sweetest smirks and tiny expressions that made it hard to put the camera down.

They also brought along his older cousin, who’s still just a toddler, and getting photos of the two of them together was such a fun part of the session. Those moments were full of personality and so much cuteness. One of the highlights was incorporating a saddle that dad brought—it added such a unique and personal touch, and those images turned out to be some of our favorites. This session was full of love, meaningful details, and so many moments this family will treasure for years to come.

T.H. P.: How did you come up with Tobias's name?
Bre: Trent and I wanted his name to be biblical and meaningful, and found that “Tobias” translates to “God is good” and knew instantly that was the perfect name.

T.H. P.: First thought you had when you saw him?
Bre: My first thought was that he was absolutely perfect and I was so relieved that he was perfectly healthy since he had been measuring small the entire pregnancy, the labor was long and intense, and he was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck.
T.H. P.: Who does he look like?
Bre: He looks like his dad with my nose.  
T.H. P.: Something you liked about your session with us?
Bre: We loved that you guys were able to get genuine, real smiles out of not just us but even some cute little smirks out of Toby! You guys made it so fun and Trent even said that the poses you guys put us in where we looked each other in the eyes was his favorite part of the whole day. This particular session will forever be a wonderful memory.
T.H. P.: What is it like to have a baby in your life now?
Bre: I feel like I have a true purpose now that Toby is a part of my life. Being a mom is such a miraculous thing and I think one of the best feelings is that being his mother, I’m his sense of calmness and security. When he lays on my chest or when I talk to him and he instantly becomes so calm, I love that bond and it just grows more every single day. My life has a whole new meaning now.

Photographing Kate and Adam’s wedding was such a special experience. What was supposed to be a gray, rainy day turned into beautiful sunshine, and it honestly felt like everything just came together perfectly. Their venue had this warm, welcoming feel, and you could tell right away that this wasn’t just a wedding—it felt like a big family reunion. So many loved ones had traveled in, and the support from their family was obvious in every moment. Baby Noble was such a sweet little guy to photograph. He had the cutest expressions when he was awake—so curious and just taking everything in with those little eyes. When he drifted off to sleep, he was completely peaceful and relaxed, making it easy to capture those soft, cozy newborn moments that parents love so much. He was calm, content, and just so easy to adore throughout the entire session. We also got to spend time photographing him with his big brother, and that part was especially special. Avery and Jeremiah’s engagement session at the Kansas Museum was such a great evening. The sun was out, and there was this soft haze in the sky that made everything feel extra warm and beautiful. We photographed sweet baby Landry, and she was absolutely adorable. One thing that immediately caught my eye was how much hair she had—and it was in the cutest little mohawk. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Bree and Trent’s engagement session was just one of those shoots that reminds me why I love what I do. We started things off in the studio, keeping it clean and simple with a seamless backdrop so all the focus stayed right on them. Right away, you could see how natural they are together—lots of laughs, easy smiles, and just that genuine connection you can’t fake. After that, we headed out to Osage Lake near the studio, and man… we could not have asked for a better day. Meeting Tate was just the sweetest. He came in with a full, beautiful head of blonde hair and the tiniest little features, making all kinds of adorable faces the whole time. He was calm and snuggly, and the session felt so easygoing from start to finish.
