Blaisdell Wedding - Gerri and Josh say I do! Granada Theater - Emporia, KS

 We're very excited to share this blog post with you all. Gerri and Josh celebrated their special day a couple weeks ago and their wedding was amazing. Their wedding party couldn't be more awesome. Their locations were so beautiful and it was so great to see these two express their love for each other. One of the most memorable parts of their day was their vows. It was beautiful, sincere and heart warming. As usual, you'll find a few photos here but down below you'll see a slideshow of their special day. John and April’s wedding at Liquid Art Winery was something special from start to finish. Set against rolling hills and the vineyard, the whole day had this calm, beautiful feel to it. It was cloudy in the best way—soft light, perfect for photos, and just an all-around ideal day for a wedding. Then right at the end of the night, the sun came out and gave us the most gorgeous golden light to wrap everything up. What stood out most was just how loved John and April are. You could feel it in every moment—friends and family showing up big for them, celebrating them, and surrounding them with so much support. Every detail of the day was dialed in. The food was incredible—brisket, salad, veggies—all so good. They even brought in local small businesses for cookies and ice cream, which was such a fun and thoughtful touch. Layton Lynne's Newborn Session - Interview with Mom - Topeka's Best Newborn Photographers

Layton was such a beautiful baby, and she gave us the sweetest little expressions throughout the whole session. I really loved getting to photograph these for mom and dad—it’s always special, but this one just felt extra meaningful. She made everything easy too. She settled in so well, posed like a pro, and we were able to get some really creative shots without much fuss at all. One of my favorite parts was incorporating the racing props since mom and dad are into demolition derby. Getting to pose Layton in one of their tires was just really cool and made the session feel so personal to them. And honestly, seeing how happy mom and dad were while holding her—that was the best part. You could just feel how much they love her. From the very beginning of Brynna’s senior session, I knew it was going to be a good one. She has the kind of personality that just makes people smile. Brynna is funny, confident, smart, and completely herself, and once she started relaxing in front of the camera, her hilarious side really came out. She was making the funniest faces and keeping us laughing the entire session. She also has one of the best smiles, and the moment I got that first real laugh out of her, I knew we were going to create some amazing photos together. Spending the afternoon with Brynna and her mom was such a fun way to kick off our Class of 2027 senior season. Tobias was seriously one of the sweetest little babies we’ve ever photographed. He had the cutest little face and the calmest personality, which made the whole session feel really special. Mom and dad were there soaking in every moment, and Grandma came along too—completely in love with her new grandson. You could just feel how much this little guy is already adored. Tobias was a perfect little model the entire time, giving us the sweetest smirks and tiny expressions that made it hard to put the camera down. They also brought along his older cousin, who’s still just a toddler, and getting photos of the two of them together was such a fun part of the session. Those moments were full of personality and so much cuteness. One of the highlights was incorporating a saddle that dad brought—it added such a unique and personal touch, and those images turned out to be some of our favorites. Bree and Trent’s engagement session was just one of those shoots that reminds me why I love what I do. We started things off in the studio, keeping it clean and simple with a seamless backdrop so all the focus stayed right on them. Right away, you could see how natural they are together—lots of laughs, easy smiles, and just that genuine connection you can’t fake. After that, we headed out to Osage Lake near the studio, and man… we could not have asked for a better day. The skies were that perfect deep blue, the light was beautiful, and everything just came together. Brynn and Justin's Engagement Session - Gridley, KS - Kansas Top Wedding Photographers

We started out on their property, and it was just incredible. Rolling fields, a classic Kansas sunset, and the kind of light you hope for every time. One of my favorite spots was this old wooden cross they had out in the field—it added such a meaningful, rustic touch. After that, we explored some abandoned buildings and then made our way to a farm nearby, which gave us even more variety. Everywhere we went just fit their vibe perfectly. We also got to include their little daughter, and she completely stole the show. So smiley, so expressive—just the cutest. The whole session felt easy and fun. Lots of laughs, some goofy moments, and just really good connection between them. You can tell how much they enjoy being together, and that always makes for the best photos. Meeting Tate was just the sweetest. He came in with a full, beautiful head of blonde hair and the tiniest little features, making all kinds of adorable faces the whole time. He was calm and snuggly, and the session felt so easygoing from start to finish. You could just feel how much Mom and Dad adore him—there was so much love in every little moment, and it made capturing these images feel really special. Big brother was a huge fan right from the start. He was so proud, giving Tate hugs and kisses and wanting to be close to him the whole time. I was really excited to photograph Ellie for her senior photos because I’ve had the chance to work with her many times over the years. She’s always been so natural in front of the camera, and this session was no different. We shot at a beautiful location that had a little bit of everything—pond, tall grass, wooded areas, a basketball court, and even an awesome swing with a view. Every outfit she wore fit her perfectly and photographed so well. She made the whole session easy and fun, and before we knew it, the time had flown by. It was also really great having her family there with us. You can tell they’re a close, supportive group, and that energy always shows through in photos. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...
