Interview with Abi Blindt - Mission Valley High Class of 2020 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits


Abi had an amazing session in the Topeka area.  We started off in some alleyways and got some really great shots of Abi in her sports gear, and even got some of her sister and their dog, Hazel.  Then we moved to the Capitol where the light was absolutely perfect and Abi had some AMAZING images! Then we went to the Governor’s mansion, where the warm sunset gave her the perfect ending to our session.  We were blown away at her images and we know you will love them too!! T.H. Peterson:  What are your plans after high school?
Abi:  Looking into dental hygiene school and different college options.
T.H. P.:  What kind of music do you like?
Abi:  Country
T.H. P.:  What activities are you involved in?
Abi:  Softball

Abi:  All of my friends.
T.H. P.:  Where is your favorite place to eat?
Abi:  Olive Garden.

Abi:  My mom.

Abi:  All the different locations.
T.H. P.:  What is your favorite subject in school?
Abi:  Science.
T.H. P.:  Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Abi:  Working as a dental hygienist.
T.H. P.:  How have your goals changed since you started as a freshman to now?
Abi:  Starting freshman year I wanted to be a marine biologist. Now I want to be a dental hygienist.

I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful senior named Jahara from Topeka High. We started her session in downtown Topeka and then headed to Ward Meade Park, which gave us the perfect mix of urban and natural backgrounds. Jahara looked stunning with her amazing makeup and radiant smile—she truly didn’t take a single bad photo! We had so much fun with her, laughing and chatting the whole time. Britain’s senior session was extra special because it took place at Riverview Wedding Venue in Reading, KS —a place that means a lot to him. We had the pleasure of photographing Noah for his senior session in Manhattan. Originally from Oregon, he now calls Kansas home and attends Manhattan High. We started downtown, capturing shots in the alleys and urban spaces before heading to the scenic outlook near the interstate. Meet Warren, the sweetest little guy with the most relaxed personality. At almost a month old, he was happy, content, and an absolute dream to photograph. We captured some beautiful moments of him, both on his own and with his adoring parents, who couldn’t stop gushing over their precious boy. Ava was absolutely beautiful for her senior portrait session! We had an amazing time capturing her both in the studio and outdoors, and every shot turned out stunning. One of the highlights of her session was getting to include her adorable big dog, Goose. He was such a sweetheart, and the photos of them together were just perfect! When we headed outside, it was freezing ! But Ava came prepared with her cowhide blanket, and let me tell you—it looked incredible. I even told her she looked like she just stepped out of a catalog! I recently photographed a branding session with Andy McKee , an incredibly talented guitar player. I hate to just call him just a guitar player, he was very versatile with his playing... an amazing talent. We chose Iliff Commons for the location, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The lighting, the weather—everything came together beautifully. It created a warm and natural backdrop that matched the mood we wanted for his photos. Before the session, I wasn’t too familiar with Andy’s work, but after meeting him, I quickly realized just how talented and respected he is in his field. How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...

Meet sweet baby Amelia! She was an absolute dream during her newborn session—so smiley and full of sweetness. She slept soundly, letting us gently pose her, and was the perfect little model. Her parents were completely smitten, beaming with love and joy the entire time. It was such a pleasure capturing this special moment for their growing family! T.H. Peterson: What did you think when you first saw Amelia? Ashley: We were instantly in love! She is our rainbow baby and is just a doll. Zendaya was an absolute dream to photograph! She was calm, sweet, and full of the most precious expressions. From tiny smiles to curious looks, she gave us so many beautiful moments to capture. Her family adores her, and it’s easy to see why—she is already surrounded by so much love. Whitney: I thought she looked exactly like her brother when he was born.  T.H. P.: How did you come up with her name? Whitney: We actually had planned on naming her Delilah through the whole pregnancy. When we were walking into the hospital we decided my husband would pick her name as a surprise since I chose our son’s name. I didn’t know what her name was until she was born.
