Interview with J.C. Heim - Washburn Rural Class of 2024 - Topeka's Best Senior Portraits

I had such a good time hanging out with J.C. He was super photogenic and so down to earth and literally just willing to try whatever. I could tell from the short time that I was around him how genuinely nice and cordial he is. I was immediately impressed with his physique and could tell he trains hard. He made it easy to photograph him! We took some downtown, then the governor’s mansion and Kansas museum and finished off at his locker room and the field at Washburn Rural. Overall, extremely happy with his session. He is extremely photogenic and was a blast to hang out with! Good dude!

T.H. Peterson: What will you miss about Washburn Rural?
J.C.: I will miss the friendships and fun times during classes with my friends. 

T.H. P.: Plans after highschool?
J.C.: I am planning on playing college football, still undecided where. 
T.H. P.: Earliest memories playing sports?  
J.C.: I remember my first flag football game scoring 3 touchdowns!
T.H. P.: Have you ever been injured playing? 
J.C.: I have been hurt, but not seriously. 
T.H. P.: Favorite NFL team? 
J.C.: Chiefs!
T.H. P.: Do you and Jaren have a secret twin language? 
J.C.: We have tested it out before in an interview and it’s scary! It’s like we think the same lol. 
T.H. P.: What’s your favorite or least favorite exercise or conditioning? 
J.C.: My least favorite conditioning is “death punches”. My favorite is jogging around the field. 
T.H. P.: Favorite place to eat in Topeka? 
J.C.: Longhorns
T.H. P.: What would people be surprised to learn about you? 
J.C.: My toes are crooked
T.H. P.: What tv show were you obsessed with when you were a kid? 
J.C.: I used to watch SpongeBob growing up.

Our session with Willow was perfect! She is such a great model! Interestingly mom said she doesn't smile often with her teeth for photos but she smiled a lot for us, I'm so happy! We took these at an amazing location not far from our studio. I love it! It was an early morning session which was perfect because we got that beautiful warm light coming over the horizon. We took some at the weight room at Washburn where we had a great time capturing his passion for powerlifting and then some with his motorcycle and out at their property with his dirt bike and just getting some incredible sunset images. This was an amazing baby session! Joshua is so handsome and cute and his parents are absolutely crazy about him. I loved everything about this session. This was a great session with lots of smiles and laughs and beautiful moments! They own a farm stand at  58th & Auburn Road and this was the perfect time to highlight their bountiful harvest! How to Prepare for a Photo Session - Topeka's Best Family Portrait Photographers

Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind.  Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day).  Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain.  If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session.  This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session.  If it is windy, wear your hair up.  Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane!    Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session.  For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown setting.  Bring an extra jacket or cardigan to th

Damien and Brianna's Big Day - Amazing Wedding at Abe and Jake's Landing - Lawrence, Kansas

In August, I had the privilege of photographing Damien and Brianna’s wedding at Abe and Jake's Landing in Lawrence, Kansas. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, the day was full of love, laughter, and so much joy. The ceremony was intimate and heartfelt, with Damien and Brianna exchanging vows in front of everyone they care about most. It was clear how much love they have for each other. After the ceremony, the reception was a blast! There was tons of dancing, laughter, and fun as everyone celebrated Damien and Brianna's big day. The energy in the room was incredible, and it was clear everyone was having an amazing time. From the first dance to the last song, the reception was packed with unforgettable moments. Weston's session was amazing! He is such a cool dude and the type of shoot we were doing for him was just awesome! I love these types of sessions.
