Photographing the Rees and Collier families is always a joy, and their recent generational session was no exception. We gathered at mom and dad’s family farm, where the kids grew up—a stunning countryside backdrop complete with a red barn and grazing horses. It was the perfect setting to celebrate their family’s love and history. The session was filled with smiles and laughter, with the kids stealing the show with their adorable grins. Mom and dad beamed with pride, surrounded by their children and grandchildren. Capturing these special moments in a place so meaningful to their story was truly an honor. Thank you, Rees and Collier families, for letting me document this beautiful chapter! Photographing Ty was a blast, he had such a laid back personality and was really easy to pose and direct. Lots of times senior boys take a while to get comfortable and into the shoot, Ty was having fun from the beginning! We took some on the golf course, out by the dam and we ended at Jade Seed and Outdoor Supply. That actually ended up being one of my favorite parts of the whole shoot. It was a ton of fun! Here are some of our favorites from the whole session! Enjoy! T.H. Peterson: What are your plans after high school? Ty: I am undecided on what I want to major in. T.H. P.: What is your dream job? Ty: Meteorologist T.H. P.: Fondest memory fishing? Ty: The last time I went fishing with my grandpa, he caught the biggest fish that day. T.H. P.: Favorite and least favorite thing about fishing? Ty: My favorite thing is being able to be outside and doing something I like. My least favorite thing is when I don’t catch anything. T.H. P.: I’m not a hunter....
Madison was such a blast to photograph! She’s super fun and full of energy, and her smile made every picture look amazing. We started her session downtown, then went to Ward-Meade Park, and ended near the Governor's Mansion at sunset. The golden hour lighting was so pretty, and it made her photos look magical. A proud Taylor Swift fan, Madison wanted to incorporate her love for the iconic artist into the session. She made the whole session so fun, and I’m so happy with how the pictures came out. Her personality shines in every shot! T.H. Peterson: What is your dream job? Madison: Working in child care. T.H. P.: Something you liked about your session with us? I had the pleasure of photographing Zach, a senior from Lebo, Kansas, Class of 2025. We split his session into two parts to capture everything that makes him unique. The first session was all about his sports and some fun shots downtown. For the second, we headed to a gorgeous country property just outside of Lebo, and it couldn’t have been a better setting. The fall colors during the second session were absolutely stunning, making every photo feel warm and vibrant. Spending time with Zach and his family was such a treat—they were so kind and easy to work with. Zach’s smile lit up every shot, so photogenic! Here are a few of my favorite photos from his session! T.H. Peterson: Who is going to win tonight's fight? Zach: Mike Tyson of course T.H. P.: What classes are you enjoying most this year? Zach: I am enjoying my anatomy and physiology and comp class!! T.H. P.: What will you miss most about playing football? Zach: Something I will miss about playing football is never being abl...
Select outfits that will make for a timeless portrait. Choose practical clothing items, and keep the location and time of year in mind. Select clothing items and accessories that are not too distracting or that you will have to adjust often during the session (think long necklaces or ruffled tops on a windy day). Keep in mind the weather, wind speed, and humidity/chance of rain. If you have littles, bring them some snacks to help give them incentives during the session. This can help us to get kids to cooperate and make or break a session. If it is windy, wear your hair up. Trimming your bangs/hair slightly to keep them out of your eyes is a great idea, too! Use product like mousse, gel, pomade, and hairspray to tame your mane! Pick shoes that will be easy to walk in at the location of the session. For example, high heels are not recommended for sunflower shoots, but would look great in an urban/downtown ...
Last week, I had the chance to photograph Haley, and it was such a fun experience! Haley is super cute and has a great personality that made the session so easy and enjoyable. We started at the Topeka Zoo, where she had a really special moment with the giraffes. Haley is passionate about giraffes, and she even got to feed them, which made for some amazing and unique photos. You could tell how much she loves them, and it was awesome to capture that connection on camera. After the zoo, we headed to the golf course for some more photos. Golf is another big part of Haley's life, and it’s something she’s been doing for a long time. She’s really good at it too! The photos at the course were so cool because they showed a different side of her personality. It was a perfect way to wrap up the session, blending her love for animals and her passion for sports. Haley was such a joy to work with, and I’m so excited for her to see how the photos turned out! T.H. Peterson: What are your plans aft...
Lauryn is one of the coolest seniors I’ve ever met. From the moment we started her session, I could tell she was completely herself—funny, creative, and so much fun to be around. We started downtown in Topeka, and she even brought a Funko Pop of herself, which made for some awesome and unique pictures. I wanted to make sure I captured her personality because she’s so colorful and full of life, and I think we nailed it! We also took pictures at the Cyrus Hotel, where she totally rocked the modern and classy vibe. After that, we ended at the Capitol, and the photos there turned out absolutely beautiful. Each spot showed a different side of her personality, and I love how it all came together. Check out some of my favorite shots from her session—they’re amazing! T.H. Peterson: What classes are you enjoying most this year? Lauryn: I really enjoy graphic design and jewelry because there’s a lot more time to work on projects by myself while probably watching Wallace and Gromit. T.H. ...
Molly was amazing to photograph! She’s a senior at Washburn Rural High School, Class of 2025, and she was so beautiful and natural in front of the camera. We started her session with some fall portraits at sunset, and the colors were just perfect. The golden light made everything look magical, and Molly’s smile made every photo stand out. She was super easygoing, which made the session so much fun. After sunset, we headed downtown to Topeka for some cool nighttime shots. We ended up on top of a parking garage that had an awesome view of the city skyline. The lights of the city in the background made the photos look incredible. Molly looked stunning with the skyline behind her, and she just seemed so comfortable and confident in front of the camera. It was such a fun session, and her photos turned out amazing! T.H. Peterson: What are your favorite classes this year? Molly: My favorite classes this year have definitely been Ceramics because I can get really creative, or gym class ...

Recently I had the honor of photographing my cousin Leslie on her and Kevin's big day! It was so good to see family and friends that I rarely get to see. Basically only when I go down to visit. Normally, I don't post more than thirty pictures or so for a wedding, but I thought it would be nice to show more of the full story. Also, I had the fun experience of shooting with facebook friend Penny Cantu, owner and photographer of Joie De Vi Photography located in Larose. Many of these beautiful images came from her creative eye. Enjoy! Leslie getting her toes done! Amy working her magic on everybody's hair! The ladies gotta look good for such a big day! Jordan getting transformed into a princess. Now she's the princess! Looks just like her brother! Aww, showing some love! Silly girls! a gorgeous dress a beautiful bouquet momma helping Leslie get dressed. so sweet. Two ornery boys. time out. absolutely beautiful! ...
